What I have observed is that when the headlight selector is in Auto, the dashboard lights are illuminated. When you enter a dimly lit section of roadway your low beams will become activated at normal intensity and a green headlight icon on your dash will illuminate. And when the low beam bulbs are extinguished. The green icon turns off.Does this have any effect on interior illumination?
Yes I believe you can change that in the vehicles menu. Something like 10-15 minutes. Not sure if u can turn it off being that it’s a courtesy light type of deal.Going off memory, after turning off the ignition (XL here, got the key), you can turn off the parking lamps by turning the light switch to off “O”. But as soon as you open the door, the parking lamps and the bed lamp turns on as a departure courtesy lights, and will turn Off after 15 or so seconds. There probably is a setting to disable that. And it might be access through the vehicle settings menu.
What’s interesting is my Canadian mav did not have autolamp by drl enabled at all, so I changed this. However the low beams are on 24/7 and no change. For Daylight Running Lamps (DRL), here’s what I ended up configuring my XL inside the BdyCM (Body Control Module). I used the easy mode .
DRL include park lamps = Enable
Dim DRL with Low Beam Outage = Inhibited
Left Front Low Beam Usage = Low Beam Only
Right Front Low Beam Usage = Low Beam Only
Using Low Beam with DRL = Disabled
My observation of the DRL lighting behavior with these settings is as follows:
Upon starting the vehicle, the light switch position defaults to Auto. Moving the transmission selector from Park will cause the tail lights and the front parking lights to illuminate, behaving as DRL. If night time or dim lighting, the low beam lamps will illuminate.
If the low beam lamps are off and the windshield wipers are activated, after a brief delay, the low beam lamps will illuminate.
Been running this way since the first of the year.

Push lock button twice on fob to turn off courtesy lights about one second after the second push. I think two pushes of the exterior handle will do the same but I use my fob. It also turns dash and info screen off sooner.Going off memory, after turning off the ignition (XL here, got the key), you can turn off the parking lamps by turning the light switch to off “O”.
