Got an XLT on the way; wish the Maverick had these kind of Side Marker Lights as standard (Mabett shown here). Really would like to add to the vehicle. :: Honestly feeling shaky that I'd have some kind of warranty work done and Ford would say "Srry, this modification voids this aspect of your warranty." It >is< a modification to the existing electrical system. Any thoughts?

They would need to show that your modification caused the issue that you needed "warrantied". I guess they could make some claim about electrical issues being caused by those side markers, but there are fuses on all the main circuits....so I am not sure how those would fry something else.

I'll have mine soon and post pictures, I plan on painting them white to match my truck.

To void your warranty for something aftermarket you installed they'd have to prove that part caused the failure.

Would be interested in installing aftermarket side marker lights that would illuminate while flat towing my new 2025 Maverick Lariat AWD Hybrid behind my RV - since the brake lights and tail-lights work off the 7 pin plug wondering if the mark lights would light up as well with the recommending wiring from the aftermarket manufacturers

Most of the exterior light circuits aren't actually fused, but load controlled via MOSFET through the BCM.

MY THOUGHTS (as my 2025 Lariat will also be our TOAD) You would have to run a separate wiring loom with Diodes tied into the side lights and I wonder if this would even work right. This could create issues. Might be better to use the OEM side panels and put independent LED's that are wired in conjunction to the rear tail light wiring you will be using as part of the Flat Tow Pkg. SIDE NOTE: are we even sure that using Diodes in the TOAD wiring will even work propelr with the NEW 2025 Lariat and LED Rear Tail Lights ? I'm going to let the 3 big names in Base Plates and TOAD Wiring kits to do installs on Lariats or come out with all the right kits to tackle my 25.

Consumers are protected unless a Dealer can prove that aftermarket products caused a direct failure of a component. You can research this under Passed by Congress in 1975 - Section 102(c), 15 U.S.C. 2302(c), the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act (MMWA) prevents manufacturers from using disclaimers on warranties in an unfair or misleading manner

Thanks for your comments and the information I am still in the planning mode being at this time I don’t have the options to flat tow my 2025 Maverick AWD Hybrid still waiting on the baseplate manufacturers (only BlueOx is offering one at this time and I don’t want to notch my front end so I’m waiting on Demco and RoadMaster to get their baseplates to market) - I also am depending on one of the 3 to get the lighting wiring right

Worst case, you could swap the OG plates back on, couldn't you? If I remember the wiring video well enough, there wasn't much if any modification to the physical wires. I think they have a harness that does that for you, in which case you could just remove it and use the stock setup.

EDIT: This is specifically the Mabett ones. I don't know about the other brands.

I wanted to do something with side markers but I was reluctant to do the wiring and also lose the XLT badge. Instead, I mounted amber reflectors that I cut to fit the space. Mounted them with 3M tape so I can remove them to later install lights if I want to do so. Got the reflectors from Amazon and had trouble finding some that would fit best without major surgery.

Nice job on that reflector upgrade over what comes standard surprised a factory reflect is not offered without mods needed

Eh-hem.

Several posts say that the dealer has to prove that your aftermarket mod caused a problem.

When you say they have to prove your mod caused the problem, you also would have to prove that your mod didn’t not. And how would you do that?

On the other hand, they won’t just roll over and do your warranty work. I can imagine the headaches caused when a dealer denies your claim and you just expect otherwise. Regardless of their legal obligations, it doesn’t mean that it won’t be a painful experience for you.

Thanks. I think it breaks up the rather bland side profile with a standout color, too. Had to use extra tape as I discovered that the insert was actually slightly curved.
