I currently own my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid that got scheduled so fast in 2021 (ordered 8/23/2021 and got a scheduled build date on 9/16/2021) but I forgot the trailer hitch (I wrongly thought it was standard).Surely this post will get me some hate and ugly comments, but that's ok!
So now that you know the backstory... I am pondering what do I do with the 3 unbuilt 2023 orders? Obviously I could just not renew them as 2024 orders, and that is probably what I should do... just to help increase chances of someone else getting their order. But with the Private cash offer keeping the 2024 models the same price point as 2023's coupled with the price increase on 2024's... Seems like if I did continue with my orders and they get built as 2024's I could stand to buy them and flip them for a healthy profit.
I know a lot of people HATE flippers. But money is money, and hard to turn down easy money. What do you folks think?
So I ordered a MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid that has the hitch and just got a scheduled build week of 9/4/2023 today.
I am going to sell my current MY22 Maverick to the highest offer I get from Carvana, Vroom, CarMax etc and share my wife's CR-V until I get my MY23 Maverick which should be by late September.
A number of posters thought I should just stick with my MY22 Maverick and do an add on hitch. But that is just a hack and costs many hundreds of dollars.
Carvana is currently offering me $31,146 for my Maverick. I only paid $26,068 out-the-door for it. The MY23 Maverick I am getting built costs $28,591.
Doing the above was a profitable financial decision and a longevity decision as I made a profit and got to use my current Maverick for 19 months and about 9,000 miles of wear and tear along with getting a brand new Maverick with a full 36 month warranty and all fixes (recalls, TSB's) done when delivered.
You did the right thing in placing multiple orders with different dealerships because getting a Maverick order filled is a crapshoot.
As long as the resale market holds you would do financially well in placing those three unscheduled orders as MY24 orders and either do like I did (sell the current to buy the new) thus getting the benefit of new warranty and no wear and tear or just sell the new one at a profit.
