Surely this post will get me some hate and ugly comments, but that's ok!

So now that you know the backstory... I am pondering what do I do with the 3 unbuilt 2023 orders? Obviously I could just not renew them as 2024 orders, and that is probably what I should do... just to help increase chances of someone else getting their order. But with the Private cash offer keeping the 2024 models the same price point as 2023's coupled with the price increase on 2024's... Seems like if I did continue with my orders and they get built as 2024's I could stand to buy them and flip them for a healthy profit.

I know a lot of people HATE flippers. But money is money, and hard to turn down easy money. What do you folks think?
I currently own my MY22 Maverick XLT Hybrid that got scheduled so fast in 2021 (ordered 8/23/2021 and got a scheduled build date on 9/16/2021) but I forgot the trailer hitch (I wrongly thought it was standard).

So I ordered a MY23 Maverick XLT Hybrid that has the hitch and just got a scheduled build week of 9/4/2023 today.

I am going to sell my current MY22 Maverick to the highest offer I get from Carvana, Vroom, CarMax etc and share my wife's CR-V until I get my MY23 Maverick which should be by late September.

A number of posters thought I should just stick with my MY22 Maverick and do an add on hitch. But that is just a hack and costs many hundreds of dollars.

Carvana is currently offering me $31,146 for my Maverick. I only paid $26,068 out-the-door for it. The MY23 Maverick I am getting built costs $28,591.

Doing the above was a profitable financial decision and a longevity decision as I made a profit and got to use my current Maverick for 19 months and about 9,000 miles of wear and tear along with getting a brand new Maverick with a full 36 month warranty and all fixes (recalls, TSB's) done when delivered.

You did the right thing in placing multiple orders with different dealerships because getting a Maverick order filled is a crapshoot.

As long as the resale market holds you would do financially well in placing those three unscheduled orders as MY24 orders and either do like I did (sell the current to buy the new) thus getting the benefit of new warranty and no wear and tear or just sell the new one at a profit.

You do you, man. Ignore the people who take it personal. They are not in control of your finances and they can only post opinionated rabble. My take on it is you gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead of everyone else in life. You won't see me holding a grudge because you play the system.

Didn't mean to double post but o'well...
I mean I actually totally understand why some folks would be triggered. I have wanted one of these trucks myself since early spring of 2022, and hated the wait and didn't like it when I saw what appeared to be folks that only bought these trucks to flip them for a profit. But I never got mad about it or got smart mouthy with people about it. It is what it is.

When I wanted a new truck back in 2021 to tow a larger camper ( I had at the time a 2018 F150 and wanted a superduty ) after a little research I learned that ordering a new 2022 superduty was almost as difficult as how it's been to order and receive a Maverick has been. I saw that there was people that had ordered a superduty and because of allocations and whatnot they had been waiting for months and months. I decided when I went to place my order, that doing a duplicate order at a different dealership would double my chances of getting one, so that's what I did. Little did I know at the time that those trucks were bringing 10 grand over MSRP if you had one and were willing to sell it. As luck would have it, both trucks ended up going into production only a week apart and both were delivered within two weeks apart. I bought both, kept one and sold the second to someone else who had been waiting for months on his own order but needed a truck ASAP... and did him a solid and sold it to him for only $1500 over what I paid for it. I made a little money and he got a truck he was able to drive for a few months till his ordered truck got built and he was able to trade it in for no loss. So everyone ended up happy.

Based on all that, and seeing how Ford was weird about what they choose to build, I placed orders for a XLT and a Lariat and based on allocations, why I did a duplicate order at a second dealer. And it was a smart move. 1 out of 4 was finally picked for production. Had I only ordered the lariat I would have had to reset and start all over with a 2024 order.

So then the question becomes... Now that I will have a maverick I wanted, do I just try to cancel and forget the other 3 orders, which would theoretically help someone else get their order... Or proceed with rolling them over as 2024 orders which due to price protection and supposedly priority build status, I should get at lower pricing and faster than someone just now placing a 2024 order, and try to sell them for a profit?

I think you could think of this sort of like how toilet paper shortages happened during covid... When toilet paper began to be hard to find, did you just buy one package so that your neighbors would also be able to buy a package, or did you buy several packages so you wouldn't have to worry about running out for while? Or did you buy ALL the packages knowing no one but you would have toilet paper???

I would do exactly what you did if I was in your shoes.

It is true... You could add a hitch to your truck rather cheaply. But if you were happy to drive the 2022 till a 2023 could be built and sell the 2022 for a profit, seems like the smartest thing to do.

sounds to me like your mind is already made up, but you’re simply looking for validation from strangers on the internet, which is kind of weird.

The Maverick won't be made in 2028. I see Youtube videos everyday saying the Maverick is doomed because XXXXX has a new compact truck for $20,000. I'm trying to decide which one I'm going to buy next month.
Hell, by 2028 I will prolly be doomed as well, but still looking forward to my '23 sitting in my garage. Hahahahaha. :ROFLMAO:

As to the OP, do what you gotta do man but just try to bear in mind, when you do post like that, there are some folks here that have been waiting well over a year for their truck and their frustration meter is red lining right about now. Your post just may rub them the wrong way I do not blame them.

I accidentally TP supplied up for COVID. Costco is about 50 mile drive so I make no more than 5 trips a year. I Buy the bales of TP there and like other stuff I purchase on sale. I keep a spare bale to open when the current on runs out and opened. Replaced it when at Costco about a week later. Just happened to drive by Costco a week after that and made emergency stop to get paper plates that spare bale of was just opened. It was last day that TP and Paper Towels sale was on, so I bought a bale of each as I forgot I had already replaced bale of TP. Then two weeks later covid shortage hit and I had almost 120 super jumbo rolls. Was reminiscent of the time in 1970's I bought 4-5 cases of Folgers coffee on clearance for about $1/can. One of which got hidden behind something else and though I knew it was around missed being found. It was accidentally found years later like the proverbial Manna when coffee shortage was in full swing and was $6-$7-$?/can. 🥰

I am NOT going to join the feeding frenzy this year so that those who need a super cheap truck before the inflated high interest rate financed 2025's will at the very least be able to place an order in the few days order bank will be open.

Problem with the toilet paper analogy is go back and look at the guys who ended up with garages full of overpriced TP after demand died down, selling it at a loss or giving it away. The high demand for the MAV is eventually going to wane due to any number of factors others already cited. I personally think THIS, right now is the peak of that demand, once Ford starts cranking out enough EBs to get more on dealer lots, and with the hybrid no longer at a low price point, theres a greater chance "collectors" of multiple orders will end up with "deals" that are a virtual wash.

Just to give you an idea of the risk, there's a ford dealer out here in in Northern CA that has had 5 new mavericks (4 hybrids) with a $5k markup for a few months now. 2 recently sold, but it took months, and I bet they didn't get that $5k, either.

I was also able to get a lariat tremor off the lot for MSRP + some stupid paint protection BS yesterday, so I think the market is softening.

I don't think it's worth it., especially with the hybrid price increases. Maybe if you can get some completely stripped 23s. Good luck!

It just seems dumb to me because you're gambling that in a year they'll still be selling for more than sticker.

If you've got the cash to invest, you could probably find better investments 😆
