I’ve seen several folks talking about the X15 ‘Flopping’ around when driving.

Neither of two I have mounted any such issue. There is a tension screw on the front underside of the cover that controls the tension front to back andthe side tension can be controlled by lifting and resetting the cover back down on the ‘hook and loop.’

I stretch the cover side to side after opening it up fully.

The cover will rise and fall slightly while driving, but by no means is it excessive. It’s actually not very noticeable at all.

That’s my 2cents worth.

I have the X15 on my maverick and it’s been great. I had a minor issue installing because the tailgate rubber flap ended up inside the tailgate, rather than on top, but after a few calls with customer support they determined that the installation was right and it was their instructions that were incorrect.

I have not had any issue with water leaking through the fabric over the past year, through a New England winter. Some water will seep around the edges after heavy rain, but it’s minor, and no fault of the cover.

personally I think the matte fabric look of the x15 is so much nicer than anything else on the market, and I’d highly recommend it
Honestly the more I look I love the matte fabric (and the limited lifetime warranty). Alex has a pretty compelling deal on the sentry, but it's still considerably more expensive.

Yeah, the black fabric is great. The Sentry is covered with the same material.

To me, the people are overblowing the fabric flapping. On a high quality one like Pro X15 it's not really an issue. It self tensions with minor weather, and can be adjusted with major seasonal changes. You won't hear it, and who stares out the mirror long enough to recall see it flapping?

The main advantage of hard cover is the security. You can't just cut and grab. But most thieves aren't going to break into what they can't see. They need to know something is back there to make it worth it.

I just don't think the double or thereabouts costs are worth it.

That's how I see it. If someone really wants in they'll find a way, but it certainly is more difficult with the sentry. I was thinking more if I leave it at a trailhead a few days or something, but realistically I'm not too concerned. I've never had my vehicle broken into, but I also always lock it and never leave anything of considerable valuable inside, visible or otherwise. I think I just really like the look of the sentry when it rolls up and I'm trying to justify the price.

Can the bars actually bear substantial weight? Personally I can't imagine putting something on top and risking damaging the fabric.

I should have mentioned before the Sentry has the vinyl mateiral (which I hate). It's the Sentry CT that is the fabric. They can hold 400 lbs per what I read. It's intended to be a weather load (heavy snow) but I know some people strap something on top. I wouldn't.

I looked long and hard at retractable, Tri fold, and hard roll up. I settled on a high quality soft roll for the below reasons.

-Price and diminishing returns (especially for hard roll up).
-Ease / weight of opening (vs trifold).
-Room it takes up in bed (retractable) or covering rear window (trifold).
-Profile on bed (sitting on top of rails). I like the look of low profile and wanted bed rail TS slots
-Trifold interferes with bed cross bars and even the higher racks (considering options here not sure what I'm getting so roll up leaves that open).

Reasons I settled on Pro X15
-Material of cover (fabric vs vinyl)
-Low profile
-Single point unlatch
-Super easy to remove
-Auto tension adjustment
-Known compatible with TS Rails
-Good warranty and consumer reviews
-Cost. Both for now and sunk cost if I decide to upgrade down the road.

Great review. Yeah I'm pretty sold on the fabric. I'm guessing it would hold up better than vinyl.

Yeah as much as I like the look of trifolds and they seem more secure I'm not interested in something that takes up a third of the bed or blocks the rearview mirror if I'm hauling something larger. I'm sure some can be easily removed if needed, but then I'd be left with it in the cab if on the road, assuming of course it would fit.

I was originally just looking for a cheap low profile roll up so I can still use it with a rack/rail system. I think I had my eye on TonnoPro LoRoll but I read reports of significant leaking. X15 is pretty slick, but that sentry keeps catching my eye.

Now I need to ask Alex about the price on the Sentry CT.

Those with the X15, are you using anything on it as a protectant?

I guess the Aeropace 303 Fabric/tonneau cover spray would work. is anyone using it? I wonder if the 303 Marine fabric would work even better..?

It is great you didn’t have the issues, but some of us have. It is good for all us to share our experiences, so I am just sharing mine.
I could hear the flapping at 45mph. I was actually surprised by this, so I tried to adjust the tension. When I did that, it started to not latch closed. I had this when I did the initial install, spent a lot of time tweaking and aligning.
Not really sure why some trucks have no problems and others do.
I have seen different length rails, in different posts, so I have a feeling they have been tweaking the rail lengths. I feel that is having an impact. I do know when I got my X4S, it came with shims attached, but other poster’s did not have them.

Any thoughts on these? I'm looking for something low profile that will accommodate roof rails/rack and provides some level of security and water resistance.

I contacted Alex at RealTruck. He recommended x15. Good deals. More than I want to spend on such a small bed but I'd rather have quality.

Also do either of those allow for/require adjustments at different times of year?

Thanks in advance.
I have the X15 and rea!ly like it. It lies very flush and tbe canvas too still looks brand new even after a brutal Texas summer.

I have two Pro x15 - Maverick and F150. However, they both have been weeping and dripping water - everything in my bed is wet after 5 days of rain. The back side of the cover is completely wet and you can watch it drip. Customer service has been helpful but the manufacturer's manual clearly states the the cover is not water proof.

I really like the look but the fabric is not waterproof? Not water proof would have been a no purchase decision.

I sprayed some water proof fabric spay and will see if that helps. I have a tarp taped under the cover unit Truxedo has a solution.

My X15 has a vinyl layer under the cavas top and that keeps tbe bed fairly dry. Doesn't your's?
