Kick its ass! Same cancer, same treatment, not gonna blow smoke at you, the treatment sucks but the cure rate is very high! So hang tough. The mental game is the most important thing, there will be dark days...

I already owned the Mav, as I began to turn the corner I began to plan and to shop.....I used the Maverick as a driver to recovering my strength and getting my chemo brain to start functioning- it worked great for me! Scared the hell out of my bride being so weak and muddle-headed and under the truck on jackstands......but it worked!!!

Keep your chin up, know that hard times are coming, set a goal to have something to look forward to and to aid in your post-treatment recovery, you got this!!!!

And F@5$ cancer đź–•đź–•

The treatments will be getting stronger. The chemo cisplatin was invented in 1844 but only approved in 1978.

Anyway I have 31 more daily treatments Mon-Friday. 7.5 hours of chemo on Mondays followed by 15 minutes of radiation. I get radiation only four days per week.

My voice is getting raspy… I have a minor sore throat. Good signs are a slight reduction in the tumor size after just three sessions. I also have a 50% reduction in jaw pain.

They tell me the last three weeks of treatment will be rough. I’m getting all this monetary stuff, paid off our mortgage and selling the truck, done now while i feel decent.

We will come out of this in a good financial position with no car loan, no credit card debt and 90% of our medical debt paid.

Kind of a high price to pay but we can manage that.

I’m already looking to get back to work around May or June. part time. I just left a 60-70 hour per week part time truck driving job! I’d like to work just a little bit less… I’m 77 years old!!!

Thanks for all of your kind words.

I upgraded to a Lariat from an XLT, got a quote from the dealer then went to Carvana, got a quote for 2k more and the dealer matched it. Going to visit my sister at the hospital tomorrow for her cancer surgery. Rough but it's gonna be OK.
Hoping on the best for you. Keep us informed.
Too bad it's the Mav you have to sell, they're going up in price. But, it sounds like somethings gotta go.
Hang in there and Good Luck!
We are now down to $1800 debt total not counting regular living expenses. Paid off the house. We can live comfortably on our social security income now of course we have to watch our expenses.

This will be a roughy journey but we will make it through… after one week I can tell I walk a little wobbly and need a bit more sleep which is hard to do.

It’s life… you carry on.

I have four canes that I have used over the years after two knee replacement and three back surgeries but that looks neat

I consider it more of a club or cudgel than a cane grrr.

Modeled after the “shillelagh” - used by stick fighting Irish Folk back in the old days.

These days it is used mostly as a well balanced and very sturdy walking stick. I’ve yet to cudgel anybody - but don’t push me haha 🤣

Prayers for you my friend! You will do fine. The tech and other advancements these last few years are helping so many. The 60's and early 70's were bad, but things have changed. We have 3 friends right now fighting it, doing the chemo and radiation and all are doing very well. Actually 4 firends, the one I forget has had cancer for 27 years! It flares up every 4 years or so and it is back to treatments. She just finished some sort of new cell transplant procedure and is supposed to keep her going for 7-10 years at a time! She is 78. Have a great afternoon!

The good news is cancer research is starting to produce some meaningful results.
Sad news is it's not the United States at the Forefront.
The way I figure it. Our great-grandchildren that show cancer markers in their DNA may have the opportunity live their lives without fear of cancer.

Not to mention various monsignors when called to pubs where their parishioners were getting out of hand . . .

Looks like many of our Maverick brothers have more in common that the trucks. Cancer strikes so many people. I can tell you are planning how to fight the health battles along with the finances. Stay strong and know God has a plan.
