I bought a 2025 lariat new, and just had my 20k check done. Since the factory warranty is 3yrs 36k miles, im starting to wonder if I should sell the truck in the next year or so, since all the electronics won't be covered anymore? This is the first vehicle I ever purchased new, so never had to think about this.

I've really liked the truck, since theres not really another similar option, so I might replace it with the same thing

Also, I live in California so the third party warranty companies are a no-go

You can purchase an extended warranty from a Ford dealer in California. Yes, 3rd party is illegal.

It will cover electronics & compliment your power train warranty. Maybe even extend that.

Of course check the fine print & cost to see if it makes sense.

Grainger or Flood Ford cannot sell Ford ESP warranty in California or Florida.
If you don't have anybody who lives out of state in order to use their address you're out of luck.

To the nit-nats.
Yes I understand it's technically Extended Service Plan.

I’m in CA. My extended warranty was $3500 for 10y/100k, but that was a few years ago.

I traded. 3 years, 13k miles. Two major leaks and mushrooms growing under the carpet episodes, both of which were warranty covered (thank the Higher Up). First experience, very lengthy, had a loaner, and it went back together without a problem. It was awesome for over a year. Second time, HUMPTY DUMPTY! Couldn't put Maui together again. It rattled , was scratched everywhere. The dash looked like it was dropped on the floor and used as a soccer ball. The door panel right front was not hung on correctly (why was it removed anyway?) Too many half assed shortcuts to list here. The manager blamed me for the askew door panel.. "We didn't do that!" My thinking is while there, it was harvested for parts, then replaced. I absolutely loved that vehicle. I special ordered it, waited 18 months for it. It was ruined by a group of careless humans.

Yup..... back in the day of Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep 5 Star dealers, had a similar situation from a 5 Star dealer service dept on a new Durango. Way to much hit and mis incompetance in service depts IMO. Last time I trusted (any of) them for anything.

I just bought my Lariat 2 weeks ago. I see many people on youtube and other sites with 100-200k on these trucks. Why would you get rid of it? I havent heard of any issues that would make this an unreliable truck? Even after manufacturer warranty expires.

I’ve also read about bad experiences with some Maverick purchases.
If it ain’t broke, why take a chance with another purchase. If you want to keep making payments, why not get a lease.
It’s good to “own” your vehicle. I’ve heard the phrase “I wish I still had that car” too many times.

I grew up in used cars that were BOUGHT with 100k on the odo. To me the idea of trading in a vehicle that isnt even 2 years old just for a mileage warranty is patently absurd.

In no way is the payment on another new vehicle cheaper then just fixing the current one if the electronics DO go boom. And that is a pretty big IF, the vast majority of these vehicles will happily run 10-15 years without major problems.

If you know you want to sell/trade for something different, doing it before the end of the is within 5k miles will get you the best money. Particularly when considering the complexities of hybrid vehicles.

Bought plenty of high mileage used cars for my three girls to learn/crash. Cars are much more reliable now, but we also don’t think twice about driving long distances and rack up more miles, longer commutes, etc. When/if the old odometers turned back to zero at 100k miles, we bragged about it
