Not trying to be a jerk, but those welds look pretty awful...

Probably because hiring a pro welder to weld an exhaust system is very expensive. Granted, this looks like something I'd do with my welding skills (near zero), but if you see what they're paying hourly for a good welder like the ones that do piping at a nuclear plant - well, that's insanely expensive.People are wondering why the welding job was so poorly done.
Is it because it was done in a back alley in the dark by amateurs?
Reminds me of scenes from the movie "Dirty Dancing".
Does this part have any value to a thief? I've wondered if I needed a cat shield to protect mine from a crook, but maybe it has so little value it's not worth the cost and effort.Just dropped my 2024 xl awd off to get the secondary cat deleted. This is the first of many upgrades. Fingers crossed it gives it some sort of sound.
First impressions:
Just got it back. Very slight change in sound, especially from inside. The engine is still louder than the engine. What I did notice as soon as I drove it was a way better throttle response and less lag. I'm satisfied with the results of this $150 upgrade. I will post the sound clip later when my friend gets out of work.
Secondary cat delete and cat that was removed.

Not to sure of the value but its very easily accessible and could be cut out in minute's.Does this part have any value to a thief? I've wondered if I needed a cat shield to protect mine from a crook, but maybe it has so little value it's not worth the cost and effort.
HaMore than just your joking about being a "polluter", it is my understanding that both you and the shop are guilty of federal felonies. Am I correct? Not sure I would post this .
What if the vehicle registered in a non-nanny state? It only would then need to meet the requirements of the state the vehicle is registered in.Will not pass visual emissions inspection anywhere…good luck with that! Warranty voided, too. May set off CEL. Dum dum dum…
You drive a hybrid. LolThis guy is a real Boy Genius.
You can tell from his posts and what he does to his truck.
Was there a reason to put a converter on a 1964 Cadillac?Modern cats don't restrict exhaust flow like the one's from the old days, no need to remove them. This summer I put one on my 1964 Cadillac, now the garage doesn't stink for hours from driving in & out of it & the vehicles behind me don't have to choke on smelly exhaust & the car runs fine, my 73 is getting them next year.
99% sure that's a resonator
On a side note, I was looking at my exhaust system and saw this vent near the tailpipe. Any ideas on what it is for? never seen anything like it in 50 years of working on vehicles!![]()
I just went to the place I get my sticker from and they said the same thing as you. This will pass! Thanks! Glad I'm not in California or other states like Cali. This is the SECONDARY Catalytic Converter. The MAIN Catalytic Converter is in the downpipe right after the turbo, and it filters the majority of impurities in the exhaust system before the gases even reach the secondary converter. The MAIN CAT has O2 sensors attached and would likely throw codes if replaced with a cat-less downpipe. The Secondary CAT does not filter much at. Just letting everyone know that is screaming "Pollution!" and "this won't pass emissions".
