And you better plan on keeping it for a while because you’ve made it pretty untradable.

I thought it was illegal to do this?
It is.

And lots of people "theorize" that this or that will void your warranty. It comes up in almost every thread.

But this is FOR SURE one of those things that will FOR SURE void the warranty. It says so in the paperwork they give out at delivery. 🤷🏻‍♂️

So this guy must have helluva lot of miles and no warranty period left, or, possibly is wealthy and can afford to pay for all repairs himself, or, is really truly a boy genius.

Just dropped my 2024 xl awd off to get the secondary cat deleted. This is the first of many upgrades. Fingers crossed it gives it some sort of sound.

First impressions:

Just got it back. Very slight change in sound, especially from inside. The engine is still louder than the engine. What I did notice as soon as I drove it was a way better throttle response and less lag. I'm satisfied with the results of this $150 upgrade. I will post the sound clip later when my friend gets out of work.

The engine is still louder than the engine???

a very selfish move
It really is. OP is either too young or chooses not to remember how bad smog used to be in the cities. There were days where you were told to stay inside because the air quality was so bad. Concrete would literally melt away because the rain was so acidic. There was a hole in the ozone layer that was so bad that some days you would need to wear sunblock if you were outside for less than an hour.

I'm not a tree-hugger, but removing an emissions device to "make my car louder" and give it a few more (unproven) horsepower is extremely selfish.

Pretty sure it will affect driveability also,in a negative way. Some did this in the 80,s but vehicles have certainly changed since then!

LOL at the emissions police. Yall are showing your true car IQ. It doesn't need sensors after it to be a converter, there are tons of vehicles that are set up this way. It isnt needed to pass emissions and as far as a visual inspection you could say you straight piped the resonator. Multiple vehicles have more than a single resonator in line to get rid of drone.

People are wondering why the welding job was so poorly done.

Is it because it was done in a back alley in the dark by amateurs?

Reminds me of scenes from the movie "Dirty Dancing".

You could always move to the great state of Oklahoma  we do not have any inspections on our vehicles at all. And it shows, by the chit you see on the road.

The storm prediction center in Norman OK keeps getting hit by tornados.

If that's not God telling you to move out, I don't know what is.

Good luck and God Bless!

Sometimes there may be a reason to do this. I have a MR2 Spyder. The precats are built into the exhaust manifold. They have an issue where the honeycomb disintegrates and gets sucked into the engine destroying the engine. Many owners gut these. It is something you cannot see if it was done without pulling the o2 sensor. It was improved with the 03 models. I did not do it to mine but did buy a header so I could reverse it. But never put it on. There may be other cars with similar issues.
