Just dropped my 2024 xl awd off to get the secondary cat deleted. This is the first of many upgrades. Fingers crossed it gives it some sort of sound.

First impressions:

Just got it back. Very slight change in sound, especially from inside. The engine is still louder than the engine. What I did notice as soon as I drove it was a way better throttle response and less lag. I'm satisfied with the results of this $150 upgrade. I will post the sound clip later when my friend gets out of work.

Secondary cat delete and cat that was removed.

Do you have any vehicle or emission inspections in your State ore county? I would not get away with a modification like this in my area.

I'm in Massachusetts it's very strick here. If it set off a check engine I wouldn't pass but this cat doesn't have sensors attacked so it's all good.....hopefully

Same here in Ohio in an E-Check county, but they do a visual check and a missing cat would be an issue even without a CEL.

The turbo cuts most of the sound of the engine, some turbo engines don't even come with a muffler from the factory like the fiat 124 spider abarth.

That makes a lot of sense. My 1st gen Dodge with a Cummins 12V has no muffler so the turbo must quiet it down too.

I need to get up under my Mav and see what's what there - i didn't even know that there was a "secondary" cat.

Of course, removing it would alert the e-check gendarmes that something was amiss. One could always do what I did to my 78 Pinto - drill through it with a large drill bit to allow more flow. (I was quite young then).

Ok, here come the warranty and polution police.

Don't you get on trouble with the dealer or could void the warranty ?

In a regular inspection for emition would get on trouble or not ? Where I'm they check in the rear exaust.

Not trying to create trouble or animosity. Just realy curious about it.

How would they know thats supposed to be a cat in the first place? There's still the primary cat further upstream
