Engine bay is big enough for a bigger engine. I would love to see someone Frankenstein a Mustang 5.0L Coyote V8 engine into a Maverick for the LOLs.

Not so much on a Maverick. Did they ever modify Escorts or Foci? They tend to modify higher-margin vehicles.
There was a saleen focus you could buy with factory nitrous in 2004.

2.3EB, LOBO suspension or better, 6 or 7 speed with paddle shifters. Overclock the RDU or PTU by .4% so the rear pushes just a tad more than the front pulls, better bolstered seats.

I’ve always been a Saleen fan and have owned a few Saleen Mustangs. Tonight I was bored and spent a few minutes adding random Saleen parts to a Maverick. I didn’t get the color quite right, but I think it looks sort of cool!

If they'd pull those Recaros from the Focus ST/RS, that'd be sweet!

I suppose you're right about that. But it's a shame. I know the Maverick is built on cheap bones, but it would be so cool to see two doors and two feet chopped out, another 100HP under the hood, and lowered. New suspension and brakes. And a Saleen badge. With black and gold paint, like the old Shelbys.

Guess I'm showing my age. I still fondly remember by big brother's black and gold Shelby 350GT.

I guess this has nothing to do with anything, but this thread reminded me of the old R5 Turbo from the late 1970s. I had a Renault 5 (Le Car) in college. Like the cheapest econobox on wheels. I used to patch the muffler with soup cans. I loved that little POS.

But Renault, in a moment of sheer insanity, stuffed a turbocharged engine in the rear and had this absolutely crazy ride. Still a bit of a fringe cult car to this day - they just released a new one in homage.

The Maverick feels the same to me. Cheap econobox. No sane person would turn a lowly Maverick into a ludicrously overpowered, poorly handling, socially irresponsible monster car. Or would they?
