23 owner here. I have a couple very small bubbly rust spots right where the top of the windshield meets the roof. Not sure what this is due to, but would love someone with knowledge to chime in.

If this is a Mav problem, where do I go from here? If this is due to stones or something chipping the paint, what is the best way to fix these blemishes?

Do you have photos of these spots?

First step is set up an appointment at the dealership to see if Ford will warranty it. If not, then call Ford Motor Company and start a case where Ford will look at it and may not do anything, sometimes they cover it, sometimes they pay a portion. Still the first step is the dealership to see if they can cover it under warranty.

FYI if you moved, bought used etc. and can not take it to the original dealership take it to the closest dealership. This if they do fix it may help to drop off or pick up. Unfortunately many dealerships today don't have body shops and outsource body work.

Those certainly could be caused by stone pecks.

As for repair, if I were to do it I'd grind them down to bare/clean metal, prime, then feather out both the base coat and clear. With proper prep and sanding in between steps, plus a proper cut/buff at the end, a repair like that would be unnoticeable unless you're up close and looking for it.

I'd do the same minus the clear coat. I got cactus grey living in upstate NY expecting it will eventually get spots, by which time the shine will be long gone and a rattlecan shot of Rustoleum will do the trick.

That is some serious rust. It may be covered by warranty. Worth checking out.

I don't think it's a waste of time , take it to the dealer , see what they say , can't hurt .

I once had a high mileage used Chevy Celebrity that had the original " clearcoat " flaking off , showed it to a Chevy dealer ( while purchasing a new Geo Metro for my kids to drive ) , and they repainted the car , no charge !

Just saying ......

As others suggested;
Dealership, then body shop If they won’t help you.
You need to get this problem addressed before it spreads like cancer.

After it gets professionally fixed you might want to consider covering those areas with paint protective film to help prevent it from happening again.

Good luck getting Ford to fix this. Could be caused by any number of factors (stones, salt).

Would be a waste of time taking it to a Dealer.
I agree. Definitely looks like rock chips.

Clearcoat flaking off is a paint defect that should be covered under the new vehicle limited warranty. This is almost certainly rock chip damage that would be considered environmental.

The bubbling around the spots makes me think factory defect, not stone chips
Or it could be because the paint was chipped off by rocks, allowing moisture to seep in below the paint and start corroding the metal.

I thought that at first but the one on the left extends too far down from where its poked through, thats more than just an untreated rock chip
