How about wholesale club gas? I’ve never had an issue with their gas and I would imagine the wholesale clubs are offering top tier gas anyways.
Thanks for your reply!
Can't find a single wholesale club that offers top tier. I refuse to put anything but top tier in a direct injection vehicle myself, but some seem to be like you and find no issues.

Wholesale club I go to says they use Mobil, Chevron, or Shell. Depending on area
I'm retired from the oil and gas industry and while what you've been told may be true, I've never heard of it. They may be referring to the fuel stock that is piped to geographic areas. It's generally all the same for all retailers but is then formulated differently by the different retailers.

If someone (whistleblower) can prove this wrong they've got a great class action suit on their hands.

Mavi rolled over 10k miles and she’s running great.
Wanted to ask MTC their thoughts/opinions on using a fuel injector cleaner like the Techron Concentrate Plus? Yay or Nay?
Is it beneficial or could it do any harm to the hybrid Maverick?
Thanks
I'm a "Yay" on periodic use of fuel system cleaners, regardless of if you have a forced induction DI (2.0EB) or naturally aspirated MPFI (Hybrid) engine, even if you religiously use Top Tier gasoline.

Look for a product with a polyetheramine (PEA) additive, that's the secret sauce good cleaning agent. Techron Concentrate Plus (1 US oz. per 1 US gal., 10%-20% PEA) is a good product. So is BG Platinum 44K (1 US oz. per ~1.9 US gal., 25%-50% PEA), Gumout Regane Complete Fuel System Cleaner (1 US oz. per ~1.6 US gal., 10%-30% PEA), Red Line SI-1 (1 US oz. per ~1.33 US gal., 30%-40% PEA), etc.

In many cases, a company's "high mileage" fuel system cleaner will have a higher PEA content than their standard fuel system cleaner. Case in point Techron High Mileage Fuel System Cleaner (it doesn't say 'Concentrate Plus' on the label) - it has from it's SDS 20%-25% PEA, treatment is 1 US oz. per ~1.75 US gal., so it's a little 'beefier' than the Techron Concentrate Plus.

Chevron USA's SDS components for their Techron products don't say PEA, they say Trade Secret - but it's PEA.

I could be wrong, but doesn’t the hybrid not take premium?
When a vehicle does not call for premium, doesn’t it actually not do anything beneficial?
Are there more additives in the premium?
I thought only the Turbo’s took premium, not the hybrids.
Thanks for your reply
You sometimes pick up a bit more detergent in premium but if the motor is tuned for 87, your timing probably doesn't have the ability to advance enough to get any substantial gains. Turbos often require premium because of very high compression under boost and the advanced timing. However, there are high compression naturally aspirated motors that also require premium for efficient operation. Think of of higher octane as a resistance to ignite. High compression generates a lot of heat (why diesels don't need spark plugs and diesel fuel is very low octane) and you don't want ignition too soon in the cycle.

Yes, Costco is top tier, so is QT, 99% of my gas comes from these two. QT rollerdogs are legit.

Normally I’m not an Additive person but. Lake speed jr is a certified experts on oils and such.
Injector cleaner is the only additive he recommends. He says they see an every distinct correlation between fuel dilution and dirty injectors.
So I do add a bottle of amsoil every 10k mile or in that range. While topping off with a top tier premium fuel.

My go to is Lucas fuel injector cleaner. More effective for hybrid as it is not direct injection. Yes use it every few months. If you have a ecoboost it will help clean injectors and keep gas fresh longer. I use it in all gas engines I own. Mower, chainsaw, and the gas can as a preservative
I’ve used the Lucas before. It has an oil viscosity to it VS other FIC’s I noticed.
Why is the Lucas better for the Hybrid vs Techron? You mentioned the hybrid is not direct injection.
I always heard the Techron Concentrate Plus was one of the best ones.
Thanks

Here my rules of thumb for commuter cars and work vehicles, such as the Maverick: 1) use the cheapest gas possible to save the most money possible, ie regular unleaded from AM/PM, Costco or Sam’s club. This vehicle is there to make you money, not to lose money.
2) use fuel injector cleaner whenever the car starts to run poorly, or seems like it is down on power compared to butt dyno recollections from years past.

Using those rules, I did a fuel injector service on a Prius that had around 150k miles on it. That was about a decade ago and was the only time I’ve ever used fuel injector cleaner.

I don’t necessarily think one is better, it’s what I like and use. I’ve used Techron before as well and it is a preference I guess. Here is the difference: on a hybrid it uses conventional gas injectors that are before the intake valves and the gasoline mixture can spray against the valves on the intake side. This helps to clean the valves when the engine is running..

On the eco-boost this is a direct injection engine, so the fuel is sprayed directly into the cylinder and it cannot wash the valves like the other motor does. The purpose of the fuel injector cleaner in this case is to clean the injector and also help preserve the longevity of the gasoline in the tank..

So in conclusion, it’s not necessarily I choose one over the other. It happens to be the one I like . I like the container it’s easy to dispense and so that’s one of the reasons and it works really well in my lawnmowers and all my other gas equipment..😎🛻

This is what I use. Every 5K and I try to use top tier gasoline whenever I can. I have used Chevron Techron since 1987 and never had issues. Hybrid Maverick engine is port injected so it benefits from incjector cleaners.

Check the toptier site posted previously for TopTier stations in your area. The toptier detergent additives are in all grades, so no need to waste money on premium, at least for the Hybrid.
In my area, all stations carry toptier, except walmart/sam's. It probably varies in your area, though.
