What is that? And is it compatible with the hybrid XLT?
Standard on the Lariat and yes it should fit any of them.

All front windshields are laminated, by the way.

Yes - It comes stock on the Lariat - reduces cabin noise.
Thanks. That seems like a really nice feature, but I'd need to know how much more it would cost....seeing as we may get another chip in the windshield over the winter. (It happens.) Does anyone know if an acoustic windshield is any less prone to cracking?

No claim of reduced cracks but all windshields are not created the same -Lots of non-OEM glass isn't awesome - Got a big rock chip on our first legit road trip windshield due to some gal who had gravel just getting flung out of an old Tacoma.

It is supposedly stronger. But it will still crack with a rock strike.

Thanks everyone!

I'll have to look into the price difference.

In my 36 years of driving, I have had only a few rock chips on my windshield. I’ve had my Maverick now for 3 months and I’ve had 2 rock chips on my windshield.
Just curious if it’s just me or maybe the glass is softer than others. I just find it odd that I’ve had two in the last three months as opposed to 3 in other vehicles over the last 36 years.
My Toyota Venza just got smacked last week causing a large chip. Tics me off! I got it repaired to prevent it spreading but you still can see the cracks, just not as bad. So, it's not just the Maverick that has this problem. My daughters expensive car with the special readout above the dash also experienced this same problem. Only her windshield to replace is very expensive. I have heard of special windshield protection film that prevents this from happening. I need to do some research so when I get the paint protection film applied on my Maverick I will also do the windshield at the same time. Hopefully I will be getting my maverick by years end but at this point it looks like the first of next year. By then I hope to find out more about windshield protection film. By the way, my Toyota also has little nicks all over the windshield that can't be repaired. Looks like little bugs so no matter how clean the windshield is, you still have little spots all over the windshield. Bugs me, no pun intended. So when I have to replace my windshield on the Toyota, I will apply the windshield protection film too. I'm going to get the Maverick protected from the very beginning so I don't end up having a messed up windshield.

I think it is likely hard rocks rather than soft glass that is the issue here.
Yep... Chances are it's just that bad luck that sometimes haunts us when we get new toys/tools. At least until it becomes more common than in other vehicles.

I going with design flaw. I'm on my 3rd windshield in one year..just had this one done last Tuesday, and already have 4 chips just from highway driving. I noticed earlier in the year the huge number of bugs that get smashed on the windshield..things are deflected over the hood and into the windshield, instead of up and over the windshield

I think it may have something to do with the areodynamics, size and shape of windshield. I doubt there's variance in glass hardness.

There are differing qualities of automotive glass, it all depends on Ford's supplier and the grade of glass they have ordered. As in all things higher hardness isn't necessarily a good thing, make it too hard and it could be brittle. If there is a defect in the glass, it wouldn't be the first time an automaker has had that problem.

I've had multiple stone strikes on my Maverick's front window, no chips or cracks yet thankfully.

Grasshopper, its just luck of the draw, a few years back, I went through 4 windshields in my BMW, design flaw or bad luck? Vegas says, bad luck!

It has to be a design/material flaw. I have 3 mavericks in my company. Not counting fixing chips we have replaced 7 windshields. We have tried both oem and aftermarket, no difference. We run smaller sedans, jettas, etc. We do not have problems with them. My personal one which is about 1.5 years old is on its 3rd windshield. The vehicles we all drove previous were very rare to have problems.
