not seeing any provisions for the scoop on Rivals plate 🤔
Yeah, that is a concern. Hopefully they will respond to the (design) method they use to get airflow to the PTU.

I had the prototype on my truck for about 8k miles, including towing a 17' bow rider boat for about 1500 miles, and I put about 5k on with the final product. I have the 4k option on my truck. I haven't had any issues with anything getting noticeably hot or warm. The factory plate has the scoop, but Rivals has substantial venting that would seem to allow adequate airflow. I am planning on changing my PTU fluid soon anyway. I will update here when I do. Also, remember the factory doesn't have a recommended fluid change interval for the PTU, and there have been plenty of posts on the forum showing the benefits for regularly changing it.

I was just noting the fact. While you were towing was the AWD engaging? If not it wouldn't be creating any heat at all so not a valid argument. The air cooled PTUs generate heat in poor traction conditions, when power is shifting foe and aft, the sort of conditions that a skid plate might be useful, off road.

The AWD engages quite a bit when pulling the boat & trailer up the ramp. Also, some on the highway going up steep grades, in the rain or other times traction is limited. I was hoping to get on a few trails on my last trip, but it rained every day. So hopefully I will give it a workout soon. For me even if the scoop were vital for the factory intentions of never having to change the PTU fluid until you replaced the PTU would be nullified with routine PUT fluid changes. That seem to be a good idea even in the OE configuration.

It seems to me that a "scoop" to improve airflow for cooling would work best when you are moving faster?

If you want to send me one, I will test fit it on my Hybrid for fitment confirmation. Looks Great.

All exactly right.
Moreover the amount of ventilation present in our skid plate compensate any factory ventilation. Proven by other 500+ skid plates models we’ve been making for different markets including hot deserted ones.

We do have Hybrid on hands, the team should verify that last couple of bolts this week.
