There's just better options. The video quality is poor for motion (15-20fps), 1440p is their best offering and that's only on their v3 Pro, IR blaster reflecting back off the windscreen will just washout the video. $50 dashcam off of Amazon will perform better. This is coming from someone who has 8 wyze cams of various types scattered around the property.

Where did you pull power from?

Apparently it runs off the OBDII port, but can also run off of usb with, I'm assuming, less functionality.

I also recently installed a ring car cam in my hybrid Maverick.
-Installation:
I liked the ease-of-installation and the simplicity of the unit. Power is supplied via OBDII adapter, and the power cable gets routed up and along the side of the dashboard, and then tucked down in the gap behind the windshield. All of the extra cable gets pulled and pushed into that windshield gap so there is no slack going into the foot well area. I was able to push my cable in between the A-pillar and the plastic trim going around to the front of the dash to hide it from my view, and it worked out well. The ONE THING during installation that was frustrating was fitting the dash camera against the windshield behind the ambient light sensor. Thankfully, both the sensor dome and the dashboard were compliant enough to allow me to shove the mount behind it. I ended up installing the dashcam about a half-inch off center, towards the passenger side.

-Battery Life:
I was uncertain going into the install about how the dash camera would drain my battery, but the Ring Car Cam offers settings to adjust its battery drain habits. Mine is set to the most conservative settings to start, and about every other time I turn my truck off, the camera shuts down after almost an hour. I am sure that I can adjust the camera's settings to stay on longer once the truck is turned off.

-Fitment/Asthetics:
I am tall (6'-8"), and so everything mounted high on the windshield is a major obstruction for me. I have the rearview mirror pushed as high up as it can go, so mounting a dash camera behind the rearview mirror would be challenging. Having the dash cam mounted lower on the windscreen is convenient for my visibility, and it took me about a week to get used to its presence.

-Tracking/Paranoia:
My phone, computer, and truck all track my whereabouts and preferences and collect information on me already, so I figured that creating another information and revenue stream for another billionaire wouldn't hurt, lol.

-Final Thoughts:
I would certainly recommend this dash camera for its ease-of-installation and simplicity of use. I wish that its forward-facing field of view was a little wider, but the cabin view is excellent. My BlackVue dashcam on my last car had a better field of view, but the Ring Car Cam is more convenient, easier to connect to, and just a little bit smaller.

Are you getting Deep Sleep messages in FordPass as well?

There are a variety of different 12V battery management features in the Maverick that could affect parking mode with a dashcam. Deep Sleep engages when the 12V battery voltage is too low and it kills almost everything, preserving only critical functions such as door locks.

If the battery voltage is OK you still can run into issues with timers depending on where/how your dashcam is powered. For example, the cigarette lighter plug stays powered for 45 minutes, and the forward USB ports 17 minutes, but the rear USB ports are shut off as soon as the ignition is off.

There are a variety of add-on battery products that deal with this issue, especially if a vehicle is parked a long time without starting and you want the parking mode active the whole time. The batteries range from $30-300+.

None of what I said above is Ring Dashcam specific. This is normal stuff that affects any dashcam trying to stay powered for parking mode, in vehicle security, and similar features.

Not a big fan of how it sticks up in the center of the window. I like my Garmin 47 Dashcam cause it can hide out of sight behind the rearview mirror. Also paid for itself when a lady turned left and cut it tight driving into me while I was at a stop sign and tried to leave.

Are you going to use Ring Protect Go?

I'm curious as to how long the truck can be parked somewhere busy - with the dashcam active using Ring Protect Go - before it goes into deep sleep.

Ring comes with a 30 day trial of "Protect Go". I will try this out and see if it is worth the subscription fee.

The power comes from the OBD-2 port. The dash cam is plugged into the port. It has a battery safety feature if it sees the battery power is going too low.
Yes, I can adjust the angle of the camera. It does not block vision out the window.

Pretty sure it's not adjustable, that was one reason I decided to not get one. Plus the fact of the high monthly charge, which would be a separate bill from my other Ring cameras. Not to mention a high number of negative reviews (suggest anyone thinking about getting one to read those reviews) and the spendy price of the poor-quality camera. Also looks like an easy target for thieves.

The camera has motion detection. If someone was approaching your truck, the camera begins recording and the footage is in the cloud. So even if they broke into the truck, it would record them. Although the damage would be done and chances of catching a thief would be small.

You do not have to have a subscription to have the camera to work.

Where DID you got your Tiki totem?

I love my Tiki Totem! I got it in Hawaii on the big Island. They had it in a tourist shop and I thought it would be a good choice for the cubby. It is made of plaster and I had to grind the little guy at an angle in order to get it to fit snug in the cubby. The Totem is the other half of my securely system.

Good point that reviewer makes about mining OBDII data. Yes, I do think that Amazon would do that. But if I remove my tinfoil hat a moment, the night images are exceptionally poor and even daytime is not great compared to other cameras in this price range.

I have not personally had Deep Sleep issues with this OBDII dash camera. I will be changing the camera's timer and sleep settings to stay active longer as I become more comfortable with the camera, but it seems to be very cautious with 'vehicle-off' battery draw in its most conservative settings.

I agree. Had the camera active for a few days now, and I have no issues with it obstructing my vision out the windsheild. I barley even notice it anymore.
