Crazy thought, but I'm wondering if maybe the dealer forgot to take out the spacers on the springs that were installed for transport. That could explain the poor ride quality. I'm not going to try and look it up, but I seem to vaguely recall a MTC member having that issue with their Maverick back in the past.
This post is the most informational, reasonable, and probable explanations. Something or some things are certainly not right with his vehicle. I hope he will give the dealership a fair opportunity to figure out the problem.

Off topic but I get sick of people bitching how bloated and too big the Maverick is. I'm thinking they must be comparing a regular cab classic Ranger with the 4 door Maverick. So, I decided to check out Edmunds and do some comparisons in size with my old Ranger FX/4 with my new Maverick.

Maverick FX/4------------------- Ranger FX/4

Length: 199.7" ----------------------- 202"
Wheelbase: 121.1"---------- ---------- 125.7"
Height: 68.7"---------------------------- 66.3"
Width w/o mirrors 72.6" ---------------- 69.4"
Turning Circle. 40" -------------------- 42.7'

Numbers do not lie. My Maverick is 2.9 inches shorter than my old Ranger and has a 4.6 inches shorter wheelbase. Turns tighter by 2 feet. My Maverick is 2.4 inches taller and 3.2 inches wider. That translates to more shoulder room and roominess in the cab compared to the cramped Ranger. Maybe the Santa Cruz is smaller all the way around, I do not know about that but bring your anti theft clubs wherever you go with it. Gonna need them.
Good points made. My work truck is an '11 ranger. It sucks compared to my Maverick by any measure. Besides the things you've mentioned, I've been on hayracks that have a smoother ride. Power from the 3.0 just fails, while having terrible gas milage. Top of the list of what I hate is the shallow floor pans. I'm not even 6', but leg room has to be the worst ever for any modern pickup. I'm pushing the boss to upgrade to a Maverick.

Loving this truck took an adjustment in perspective… I’ve had my Maverick Lariat EB for 2 weeks. It’s my first truck. Prior to Trucklet Destroyer of Worlds, I drove an Audi A7. I loved my A7. It was in mint condition at 12 years old when it was totaled in 2022 (I wasn’t in the car. No one was hurt. I’m still married to her). When considering my next car, I was drawn to the Polestar 5 (not to be in production until 2025). To relieve my retirement boredom itch, I’ve built a home woodworking shop. After a few months without my own vehicle, I realized I only ever used my wife’s car to drive to Home Depot, Lowes, Menards or Owl Hardwood Lumber. I soon envisioned showing up in a Menards parking lot with an electric supercar was not only impractical but would look really stupid. That’s when I ran across the Maverick and this group. I admit that with my first few drives of my Maverick, I longed for the A7 experience; but after a couple of weeks, I’m really loving my new truck. For the price, this thing can’t be beat. The interior is cool looking and very comfortable. The driving experience is excellent. Highway driving with Co-Pilot360 is superb. On top of that, I’m probably 80Gs in the green over my first choice.

P.S. My Dad: WWII, LT JG, USS Chepachet, Oil Tanker, Leyte Gulf, Philippines, 2 trips across the Atlantic. Thanks Dad!

I ordered my Maverick XL Hybrid in September 2022 and picked it today. I am returning it tomorrow. The truck drove fine in the city, but 20 minutes on the highway was enough. I don't think the Maverick hybrids are highway vehicles. My father's 1972 bare-bones F100 drove better. I've never been more disappointed in my life.
This is a troll post, right?

Either you had a truck broken out of the factory, and somehow couldn't figure that out, or you have had zero disappointments in your life.

There isn't a single vehicle ever produced in the 70's that even compares to how the Maverick, or any modern vehicle, drives. How you even begin trying to compare a solid rear axle leaf-spring truck.

Not to mention that infamous touted Twin I Beam front suspension!

Looks like the consensus is that you are a troll with honesty issues. Prove us wrong and supply the name of the Dealer with the 3 day return policy.

FWIW, Car and Driver likes them both (SC and Mav) for different reasons. I had to chuckle when C&D said the XL trim is too spartan for consumer use. I imagine all the XL owners here will disagree.
You GOT That RIGHT!! 😤 🤣

Take it "Back" to your dealer and have them look at it.
And Let US know... 🤔

I wonder if OP took the time to do some research and actually test drove it?
What's this test drive you speak off? Like, get in a car and drive it before placing an order? What planet do you live on? They haven't been able to keep Mavericks in stock anywhere near me.

When my dealer had one on the lot, it was a sold order.

That is why it is called variable ratio power steering. The ratio changes the faster you go.
Do they also have variable assist? My Honda had electric power steering that was a fixed ratio but changed the assist amount depending on vehicle speed. Going slow in a parking lot, I could steer it with one finger. Going down the Interstate, the steering firmed up noticeably and I'm sure that made it less squirrely at speed.

I found that system easier to use than the hydraulic, fixed-ratio, fixed-assist power steering on my Nissan Frontier. The steering assist on that truck is a compromise in comparison. Heavy in parking lots and squirrely on the Interstate, but good between maybe 30-50mph.

20 minutes on the highway was enough. What does that even mean?

What you describe you had on your Honda describes what I am experiencing with my Maverick. I love it. As you say, less squirrely at speed. Huge upgrade over my 05 Ranger to say the least. :ROFLMAO:

Alright... So OP says that he honestly thinks hybrids are not meant for highway driving, not thinking there's something wrong with his truck, just HONESTLY thinks hybrids aren't meant for highway driving, with really not much details. OP did mention about lurking on this forum and seeing lots of hybrid issue threads.

..and now ppl are boasting their EBs  and recommend OP to switch to an EB or something else?

C'mon now.... hybrids aren't that bad to drive... I mean they're actually almost identical to drive other than the powertrain. Either OP is trolling or there's something wrong with his truck.

Since, WE are going down this road.. 😜
Are not the ECOs and Hybrids using the same suspension/steering components from the CV joints,(power shafts) outwards??
Or is there a different arrangement..between the two. please enlighten, someone..
