I'm sure this is been discussed before but I couldn't find the thread so let me ask again. I'm puzzled that the drive mode resets itself to Normal every time you shut off the vehicle. Attempting to save as much gas as possible with my hybrid I would like to keep it in Eco mode most of the time. I have to reset this each time I get in and start the vehicle. My wife's Kia Soul remembers the drive mode, so why doesn't the Maverick?
What's the possibility of Ford fixing this with a software update date somewhere down the line?

Yeah it has been asked before and yeah it can't be changed. Ford has made no mention of this being available in in the future.

Perhaps Ford had a reason for doing it this way, but I've never seen any other vehicle that has driving modes not leave it as set. Imagine if every time you turned on the radio it went to a default station not the one where you last left it. 🤪

Pretty sure that I saw a thread where people have been able to use ForScan to be able to set Eco as the default drive mode. Also, I think that Slippery is actually more fuel efficient over Eco.

Should be able to find the thread under the ForScan, Programmers, Tuners forum with relative ease

Don't feel too bad about it, normal mode isn't much different.

I stopped using ECO at 6k, NORM for all driving except those special circumstance modes. have achieved better mileage since - can be attributed to break-in I'm sure but I find the responsiveness of NORM over ECO lets me drive the truck how I want while still giving me better control over pedal response, which is where the turbo gets trigger happy and starts pissing gas away

They have not. And Slippery only applies to the Hybrid and if one is see-sawing between off-throttle regen (which slippery applies less of) and acceleration

I've only had my Maverick hybrid for a little over a week and about 200 miles so I'm still getting used to how how to get best mileage and yet not drive like granny. Right now I'm averaging at about 35 miles per gallon.

Fair enough, I actually look into that thread so I was just going off of what I had seen. I know that slippery only works for the hybrid and not the ecoboost, but saying that the OP has a hybrid then it applies to their case.

My Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is set to Eco and it stays that way no matter how many times I start and stop it. Sometimes I flip it over to Sport to merge on the highway (it is a huge difference in response from Eco to Sport) but otherwise it is always in Eco. Seems like a "no-brainer" to have it default to the last setting instead of returning to Normal, but then again Ford is not famous for getting things right that seem like no-brainers.

My Maverick just bumped over 1000 miles. Mine is an EB with FX4 so I don't have Sport or Eco mode. I haven't had a reason to use any mode other than Normal as of yet so the fact that it defaults to Normal hasn't been an issue. I'm just aggravated by having to remember to turn off the auto start-stop feature every time I start the truck. The limited gas savings is not worth the lack of instant response to me, I wish I could have deleted auto start-stop all together. It isn't a big deal in hybrids because the response from the electric motor is instant and any delay on the gas engine starting isn't an issue.

It can't be done using Forscan. There is a hardware timing module you can build and hard wire in to have your Maverick default to eco. https://cubanredneck.com/how-to-automate-eco-mode-on-the-ford-maverick/

Somebody posted a device on here you can plug in and it will keep the start-stop off. I think it was available from Amazon.

It's not plug-in. You have to hard wire it in. See link in post #13.
