Has anyone replaced the factory speakers only, and feel the quality is far better? I see many adding crossovers, and key200.1. Just looking for feedback for only the speakers. I'm looking at the Kicker CS series.

There's plenty of info on this if you search.

I replaced the stock front speakers/tweeters in my XLT and have been extremely satisfied. It's quite an improvement. They drop right in and use the same connectors.

yep.

just replacing the speakers will help a lot. if afterwards you're happy with the volume around 15-18, you're good. if you want more output, that's when you go get a kicker key 200.4 or some other amp.

get speakers that are rated to work with 50w rms or less. because the Ford Connected Audio infotainment unit has *a lot less* than 50w rms, lol.

I have a 24 Lariat; and see no need to replace the B&O speakers. Had I got a 23 w/o the B&O system I would have done so. I never listen above level 10; and cannot conceive of using level 15 to 18.

It depends on how old you are I guess. At 64,my mavericks speakers sound just fine.
Assuming that your hearing is not what it once was. At 77 I still have pretty good hearing; and I would replace the cheap std speakers. Since I have B & O sound in my 24 Lariat I see not need to do so.

My hearing is still great, but as I'm older I'm not as picky with sound.the days of my Craig 8-track with sparkomatic equalizer to Jenson 6x9,s in the package tray are over lol. My mavericks standard speakers sound just as good.imo.

It really doesn't depend on how old you are. I'm 48 and I've appreciated high quality sound since I was very young. Around age 10 I heard Bose 901s, indisputably the first 'surround sound' speakers, and appreciated the seemingly omni-directional sound but even at that age I noticed the lack of low bass and cymbals didn't crash. EQs can only do so much with 4" full range drivers.

It also depends on if you enjoy live music. If you do, you are accustomed to loud music, and you probably enjoy it in your home and vehicles as well.

If you don't appreciate high quality, high volume music, obviously these types of threads are not for you. Those of us that do appreciate high quality music get no value out of replies stating that you don't think it's worth it. Just keep scrolling. (y)

The OP is asking if he will get value out of replacing the speakers without installing an amplifier. The answer is conditionally yes. They work without an amp. They will work a LOT better with an amp, and also with a subwoofer.

It is a matter of taste. Enjoy your Mav.

The "SPARK-O-Matic" and Jensen 6x9 triax were my "Go To" set up for just about everything back in the 80's. The colored EQ lights were a huge deal back in the day. I mounted that in an overhead console that was way ahead of it's time.

Enjoyment of music is in the ears of the listener; each will make his/her own decision on the need to replace the Mav speakers. I have made mine as you have also done. What is wrong for you may not be wrong for me. You are correct that higher quality speakers will produce higher quality output. But each of us have a unique set of ears and must act accordingly.

I am waiting on a new forscan adapter to come in the mail for my laptop. Before I go to swapping speakers I’m going to disable the factory EQ which is all over the place. I’m also going to change the settings to send full sound to the Rear speakers, not just tweeters as it is now. I’ll update when I do that this weekend.
