Oh wow, that was a loaded Lariat in Atlas with BAP and adaptive cruise. And I even see the faint outline of a sunroof. That was a nice build, too bad. I like the Mav so much I bought 2 that I show on my videos.
Thanks, I really do like the better options, but even loaded it wouldn't have memory seats.... and 101 mpg is just too nice to pass up.

I think you definitely ordered the wrong car then. Glad you are happy with the Escape. They are just 2 complete different vehicles.

When we ordered my wife's Bronco we knew we were spending $60k on a vehicle that did not have memory seats, leather or luxurious interior materials/features. Hell, it doesn't even have stop/go cruise control or lane centering (we even have the "lux" package). We ordered it because we wanted something that could take us anywhere anytime, we could hose down the interior if needed or take off the roof and doors and enjoy.

Lots of people are not satisfied with their purchases, but I think it's based on having the wrong expectations on what the Maverick actually brings to the table. A nice cheap little truck that can get great fuel economy with lots of capability.

For me, having a bed, Copilot360 Assist and great fuel economy are a must have. Everything else is icing on the cake. So a little rattle here and there or a glitchy screen is not going to steer me away lol

This. Get what makes you happy.

But the e-coating thing... eh... not too sure about that one. The Escape is essentially the same vehicle in those regards. The infotainment center not working would be a deal breaker upon acceptance, but I'm sure if they fixed it then no big deal. Then I'd sign paperwork - but not before it was fixed. No doubt the Escape is the "nicer" of the two but not by much, it's really splitting hairs as far as creature features interior wise. The rest is pretty much exactly the same. Mavericks are Escapes with a bed. But of course, they don't offer PHEV's. Maybe that is what you meant? Because I had an Escape Hybrid and it got nowhere near 101 mpg in the city. I was lucky to see 40 and some people report 50-60 during hyper miling. Even still, you had to have known that before going into this. The Maverick hybrids average 36-40 same as the Escapes do for most people. So I'm not sure where the 101 mpg is coming from. Especially once it gets cold... I think you'll be surprised to learn how often the ICE has to kick on just to maintain a temperature threshold and how much the battery suffers in the cold as well. But like I said, get what makes you happy at the end of the day.

Escape PHEV has a bigger battery compared to a similar hybrid setup. You would definitely enjoy faster acceleration.

Poster was probably wanting a heavier duty truck at a cheap price. My wife and i were joking about being a fake truck. It's really just a utility vehicle, If the competitors come out with something beefier they'll be thousands more. The economy will only get worse. I paid $4.69 for a half gallon of egg nog this morning. Not the premium brand, was Krogers budget label. A box of name brand cereal (which i don't buy) 6 to 7 bucks. We're ok with a fake budget truck.
I've had mine since December of 2021. This is exactly the conclusion I've come to. Do I love everything about it? No. But the same truck I bought, considering the higher MSRP and 8% interest now, is now easily 6-7k over what I paid. And there's nothing else on the market that even comes close.

Will there be more compact trucklets? Probably. But no one will compete with Ford on price.

For many reasons (big or small) the Maverick may not be the vehicle everyone wants.
Life is too short and the Escape is nice so enjoy both.

I had no idea the escape Phev can get 101mpge equivalent. That’s pretty good and I think most compact vehicles should be getting that given how long hybrid tech and autos have been around. Why is Ford killing off Escape they just refreshed?

The reasons: 1) After reading the article regarding what Ford did to produce it at that price was primary. By not E-coating body parts, it will rust in Northern Ohio.
I'm glad you got the vehicle you really wanted; however....

Please link the article that stated the Mav is not ecoated.....that is completely false. You can watch videos from the Hermosillo plant showing the white body go into the ecoat bath, same as your Escape. Body Winter durability will be no different between the two.

A proper undercoating using wool wax black by a reputable installer removing the rocker plastic and all skid plates, felt, fender well liners and heat shields and taillights is light years ahead of a so called cheap factory e-coating. I would never trust a factory e coating. BTW, these trucks are dipped with a zinc oxide coating which provides a tremendous last line of defense for the undercoating.

Fender wells and other critical areas that receive tire driven road crap are getting a coat of bed liner material first. My Maverick went into the shop last night and I will pick up the truck Monday afternoon. Needs to be done over a period of 4 days to pressure wash, then apply the bed liner and allow it to cure. Then undercoat and reapply all the parts. I would do this with any new truck I bought, not just the Maverick.

I live in Vermont which is light years worse for road salt than Ohio and this truck will last as long as I want to keep it with annual touchups.

You should not have given up on the Mav so easily. I have only owned mine for 5 weeks now and it has amazed me to no end with how good it rides and handles, great power, roominess galore given its size. Cheap to insure. All for 30K sticker, 32K out the door.

That is a great truck you turned down but look at it this way, you have made someone else very happy. Thank you, I will enjoy my Maverick. I already am. :)
As with any of our vehicles any more, Ziebart undercoat. For our Mav, a ceramic coating also. Take them in yearly also for the required maintenance to keep up the warranty.

After waiting 13 months for my 23 Maverick Hybrid Lariat, I refused acceptance. The reasons: 1) After reading the article regarding what Ford did to produce it at that price was primary. By not E-coating body parts, it will rust in Northern Ohio. Other components were dropped or cheapened including the muffler. 2) Even though I wouldn't be financing very much, FordCredit wanted more than the banks. 3) On arrival, they told me that the radio did not work, which required replacing the entire touch screen.

I did drive it (without the touchscreen), and I have to admit, I liked the way it handled.

Instead, the dealership had a plug-in hybrid Escape Platinum....101 mpg in the city....

Enjoy your Mavericks everyone, I love seeing them on the road, but I guess I want more than what they offer.

My 14 year old ram has held up very well in Michigan with nothing done as far as aftermarket rust proofing .I'm hoping to get another 10 years from it.nothing was done to my 23 mav either, will see if it holds up as good as the dodge!

There is no Ziebart or any other undercoating franchises in Vermont. None. No SIBL franchises either. Very backward in many ways up here. So.....Detailing shops have taken up the slack and offer many different types. Most popular is Fluid Film Black (best overall in quality and price). CRC SP400 (Outstanding quality and very very expensive) and rounding out the top 3 New Hampshire Oil Undercoating (Excellent with rust inhibitors but messy). For me better suited for older vehicles not one that only has 500 miles on it like mine.

They have to be somehow factoring in the first 35-40 miles strictly on battery into the equation. Once the garage charge is depleted and it becomes a standard hybrid one will see similar results as in the Maverick Hybrid.

Take a 90 mile trip. The first 45 miles are 100% battery. The last 45 miles standard hybrid getting 45 mpg. Bingo. 90 mikes traveled, 1 gallon of gas used, 90 mpg. Sort of. Really e90 mpg.

Please, someone correct me if I am wrong but I see no magic wand when it pertains to gas mileage with the Escape.

Hi Bob Where are you having the bed liner sprayed in? at the For dealer? I think I bought at nice Lariat that was refused... it has everything I wanted except a sunroof and a Berliner and tonneau cover... I can't understand why the dealer did not offer those to me as part of the purchase.. to install afterward... I am just confused... all they wanted to do was sell me wheel locks and clear decals... I also feel like the sound dampening is not as robust as the escape... and god... why have a pick up truck without a rear seat that folds flat? besides the fact that the rear seat is only big enough to accommodate children or smaller people! I am not a fan of front wheel drive... but I like the mileage and utility of the rest of the truck! I just thought it would be higher up like an escape... I may get the lifters...

I have only put 169 miles on my XLT hybrid and I love it so far. I drove 35 miles home from work and was getting 38-39 MPG on the display while driving. When I shut my vehicle off it said I got 46.7 MPG. of the 35.7 miles 15 miles was electric the rest was gas. This was a 2 lane highway going 55 mph and a 4 lane divided highway at 55 mph. I used the cruise on those roads. About 18 miles was on 45-40 mph. I am very happy with that MPG. I got 3/4 tank left and computer says I can drive another 379 miles before empty. I even put 235/65-17" Firestone Destination At2 winter tires on it. I know I will get better when I put my summer tires in the spring. Loving my Maverick so far. Sorry to say you are missing out on a great vehicle.
