I've been looking through reviews. Very positive things said about the Truxedo Pro X15. Does anyone know what model Truxedo is Ford selling with the soft roll up option?

I'm leaning towards the ford hard roll up or maybe the BAK X4. I'm going to look into the differences between the X2 vs the X4.
If you are going to upgrade over the X2, go to the X4S. The X4 and X4S is not the same.

I’m leaning to the truxedo soft roll up. The ford pass points almost covers the full price which is very nice.
I too was worried about security but the way it clamps shut with a tight fit makes me think it’ll be tough for someone to peel open the cover. But I’ve never seen one in person so maybe someone can chime in.

Wait for WeatherTech to make their Tri Fold. Shouldn't be long.

Ford pass points only come out to about $210 - don't think that is covering their soft rollup!

I don't have his email handy (it is posted elsewhere in the forum)...Alex from the realtruck website can be emailed directly for a really good discount - it was roughly 20% off for my truxedo sentry CT - I am sure the BAK discount would be at least enough to warrant at least asking him about it. No point wasting the $210 ford points on basically the same covers that you can get for less from Alex.

Also...I was almost dead sold on the hard roll-up Ford version for the Ford logo, but in real life it doesn't look particularly good. The matte black finish on either the bak x4s or my truxedo sentry ct look way better.

Yea its close, but not fully. Fairway Ford has the soft cover for $290.

Any tonneau cover including hard aluminum cannister type rollups are easily defeated by anyone that really wants to get into your truck. Aluminum bends very easily. Tonneau covers exist to deter theft visually, not to prevent it. I have had the cheapest Truxedo covers from 16 years ago and the velcro held up just fine for the entire life of the vehicle, same with the stitching. It was parked outside and regularly got snow on it in the winter. I can't say they never fail, but they don't fail in my experience unless you are not treating them properly. The covers with thick alumninum slats or hard panels are too limiting to me. They take up too much space when open and impair rear visibility. They are also more expensive and overkill for my personal experience.

Great thread! It's persuaded me to drop the soft roll-up from my order (3% constraint wasn't doing me any good anyway) and find something better.

Leaning toward the BAK Revolver X4S.

I have the Pro X15 on my Colorado and love it but I think someone with a big ass knife could breach the cover! But I would think they would have to know there's something of value to risk getting caught

Thanks for the feedback everyone! It’s true, if someone wants to get it…they will. The basic truxedo will do my duty just fine :)

I just changed my order today to remove the factory Ford tri-fold tonneau. Primarily to expedite my order as it has come to my attention that the cover along with spray in bed liner will delay production. But also because of the availability of a hard cover that allows for Yakima, Thule or Rhino rack systems. The Retrax One XR. I am probably "late to the party" on this knowledge and this info is posted somewhere else but in case it's not check them out. They have a little video showing some of its function. I plan on using the low towers from Yakima with a small roof box from Thule on one side and the skinny basket from Yakima on the other.

+1
I emailed Alex for best price on a BAK Revolver X4S and he came through with a great price. He's taking care of Maverick Truck Club members.

So if RealTruck carries what you want, you need to check with them.

I also found great product comparison videos there that helped me decide what I want. So they're providing real customer value.

No relationship to RealTruck. Just passing along my experience.

I ordered an Extang Trifecta 2.0 today. Had an Extang cover on my ā€˜02 Sport Trac that lasted 12 years, never garaged! At 12 it still functioned, it was just looking old, so I replaced the tarp portion of it at that time.

Based on reading reviews and what other forums have been recommending, I plan to get the Truxedo Pro X15. I will wait until my truck is built before I order one.
Is this lockable, I cannot tell from their website and pictures.
