I like some tech, just not stuff that removes my control of what I want done and when, and introduces additional failure points into the system.
do you have any brands/models in mind?

Geeze! The defrost cycle has to divert the cabin air through the ac condenser to remove the moisture. In order to not introduce outside air which may have more moisture the outside air door should stay closed (the outside air being at a different temp would introduce wide swings in relative humidity and may or may not be beneficial). The AC will operate at minimum necessary cooling to due remove condensate. The outside air entrance should remain closed during ALL defrost cycles by you or by automatic control. In any case should be easy check with an open container of "fart in a can".

How do you think they keep you happy with low prices? If that's a problem, pay more and only buy from companies that source from countries of your choosing.
Or, try to avoid buying new products, because it is impossible to buy any mass market items not full of 3rd world produced items.

My car is 21 years old, so I had to buy something, and I was eligible for A-plan. The Maverick was literally the lowest priced passenger vehicle Ford sells in the United States.

Another example - my 21 year old Whirlpool refrigerator died last year - I was able to actually find a Whirlpool still made in the United States, and even better, none of that ice or water through the door. I'm sure it is full of 3rd world parts, but options are limited....

Hi everyone...I always used the recirculation feature to prevent smog from entering the cabin, such as when you follow a diesel truck spewing black fumes or driving through a zone with air pollution (due to recent fire etc). However, in the Maverick this feature automatically turns off after some minutes. I wonder why it does that. Anyone has the same thought?
It turns on fresh air to feed oxygen to your brain. I use fresh most of the time and go for the recir when I anticipate a coal roller. Particularly on long trips, fresh air keeps you from falling asleep and moisture from the humans unless you are running the A/c on recirc and falling asleep in the cool. It's probably a good option to have an automatically jump off recirc.

Boy, ain't that the truth!!
I love technology. I just can't stand climate control systems that just constantly do what you don't want it to do and you have to fight it to make a do what you want to do. That's really not helping life with technology.

I have a 23 XLT hybrid.
When I have manually selected settings on my climate control system. Some times it automatically turns on the AC to regulate the cab temperature to what I set OR to lessen the humidity in the cab. If I don't want the air on I just reach over and turn it off. Summertime or winter time I have never had recirculation automatically turn on or off.
In the summertime the auto setting works for me. Temperature set at 72°, the AC starts out strong with a lot of air volume and as the cab cools down it slowly phases down the compressor and the fan speed.
In the winter time. My hands and feet get cold. I use the heated steering wheel and the foot setting for heat with the temperature cranked up to 85° and manually select the fan speed to warm my feet. Yes, if I leave it on too long and the cabin gets too hot the AC will kick on to maintain the selected temperature.
