Recirculation feature

Hi everyone...I always used the recirculation feature to prevent smog from entering the cabin, such as when you follow a diesel truck spewing black fumes or driving through a zone with air pollution (due to recent fire etc). However, in the Maverick this feature automatically turns off after some minutes. I wonder why it does that. Anyone has the same thought?

Ah OK...Its 20 degrees here in MA so I wonder if I can turn on the AC button but have the temp at 70?

It turns itself off when it detects enough humidity in the cabin air to start fogging the windows.

Yes. That's what I do on cold days. Just adjust the temp.

There's a great writeup on the hvac systems floating around the forum but adding a yes to @bighead cause they're correct - keep the AC on if you want the recirculate to stay on just adjust the temp for comfort.

Your compressor also runs whenever you turn on Defrost. 'Murican vehicles have done that for ages. Most foreign name brands do, too, now. But in the past, the compressor would not operate if the OD temp was below 32°. Not sure if that's still the case though.

I would much prefer to be able to control the flow of outside air myself, vs having a computer make that decision. And also do it without the fan and compressor running. Sometimes you get in a situation where you just want to temporarily stop dust or fumes from entering the cabin, without the blower or compressor on.

I find myself constantly having to futz with displays, controls & buttons in this truck, to get rid of a nag box or correct something the computer decided was needed - but wasn't.

How do you think they keep you happy with low prices? If that's a problem, pay more and only buy from companies that source from countries of your choosing.

I like some tech, just not stuff that removes my control of what I want done and when, and introduces additional failure points into the system.
