My 25 Maverick Lariat Hybrid was on the recall list when I checked my Ford app. The message stated: POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE UPDATE.
It took a couple of minutes to schedule an appointment with the dealership online. Hope it's a quick update.

My trailer module failed (24 Lariat hybrid) and I've been waiting for this update as 22, 23, and 24 model years did not have a fix available for months. It affects the trailer lights when attached to the truck. My Ford dealer pretended not to know anything about the problem and offered to charge a diagnostic fee to tell me what I already knew (the truck told me the module had failed), so I declined and will have the update applied when they do the next oil change in a few hundred Kms time.

Yet another software update, haha. The Ford experience. Everyone on Reddit complains about how many recalls Ford has but 98% are these software bugs. Both of my newly purchased Fords have had software recalls and nothing else 😂 doesn’t seem like this one affects pre MY25 vehicles tho.

A PCM update is going to fix your failed trailer module?

The issue you describe is a trailer module update though, and pre-25MY have been getting them already according to forum posts.

You might be confusing your Ford dealer for a good reason.

I asked on another comment of yours. What "failed" on your module?

23 2.0 AWD XLT. I'm in on it also and waiting for parts for the 25SA4 recall of the engine block heater. Parts for that were supposed to be available 2nd quarter of 26.

That one says February 2027 now.

Sucks for those in truly cold climates

Thoughts on what this new recall will fix when the Software update is installed.

Recall notice found in Ford App. today. Nothing at NHTSA, yet.

Check for your own recall here.

Nothing on my Ford app or when I enter in my '25 Lariat Hybrid AWD's VIN. Maybe for a specific trim or year?

This one I assume ?
Depending on your vehicle and recall campaign, the free dealer updates address issues ranging from transmission unexpectedly downshifting and unexpected vehicle rollaways, to trailer brake failures. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
The PCM update recalls affect several major models. The most notable actions include: []

1. 2026 Transmission Rollaway Recall (Campaign 26V237 / 26E04)
  • Vehicles Affected: Over 741,000 vehicles, including various models like the 2025-2026 Maverick, F-150, and other Ford/Lincoln SUVs.
  • The Issue: The PCM calibration can cause a delay in detecting certain faults, potentially causing the transmission to engage in a way that allows the vehicle to roll away while in "Park".
  • The Remedy: Dealers will update the PCM software and inspect/replace any damaged transmission components for free. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

2. Sudden Downshift Recall (Transport Canada 2026189 / NHTSA equivalents)
  • Vehicles Affected: Certain trucks equipped with 6-speed transmissions.
  • The Issue: A software problem can suddenly downshift the transmission into second gear, leading to a loss of control.
  • The Remedy: Dealers will reflash and update the PCM software so the computer responds safely to signal issues. [1, 2]

Well explains why my '24 Mav doesn't have the recall. I can remember when one of my buddies had a Taco that had a similar recall. He had a State Trooper knocking at his door one day asking him if the Tacoma parked lengthwise in the middle of a busy 4 lane road was his 😳that must have been an interesting discussion 😆 Thanks for this info!

Its a quick little software update, I did one yesterday on an F150.
If you have automatic updates turned on then it should do it automatically.

Build dates affected for this recall-"Maverick 2025 Hermosillo April 11, 2024 through March 8, 2025"

"REASON FOR THIS EMISSIONS RECALL
The affected vehicles were manufactured with Powertrain Control Module (PCM) software that does not provide the required On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) warnings when the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor is faulted with an irrationally low temperature, as required by regulation."

Ford Maverick Recall (Campaign 26E04) issued July 2026 - Powertrain Control Module - Software update needed. 1783787326133-r4

Mine specifically says to schedule with my dealership and software is not available yet.
