Recall 25S02 Battery Replacement on the 2022-2024 Model Years

Are you able to turn off the “stop/start” feature on a permanent basis or do disable it each time to start the engine? If you were able to turn it off permanently I would appreciate if you could let me know.

I think I have seen that it can be turned off in other posts but I disable it/ turn off each time I use the truck with button on center console . ecoboost maverick here . hybrid may be different ?

Yes you can permanently set the default to off using FORScan There is a topic on this forum with instructions search function.

Here are the instructions
You have to change the values in the "AS Built" in the PSCM module address 730-03-01. There are 3 sets of values. In the 3rd set of values change the first two digits from 01 (enabled) to 00 (disabled). Then click write all and follow the key off/on instructions. That's it."

There is no such thing as auto stop/start on hybrid.
So there is no option to disable/enable.

For hybrid the ICE probably turned off way before stopping as soon as you started to coast or brake for the light.

This particular recall is for EcoBoost non-Hybrid models only.

Yesterday I got in the mail the 2022-2024 recall notice that battery replacements are now available on my 2022 Ford Maverick 2.0 liter. Anybody else got the recall notice

Would be mighty useful to Edit your thread subject since this site is for Mavericks.

It's only the 22/23 model years, and only EcoBoost, which this recall applies to.

Help more find it - because your letter is important - I thought prior notices made it sound like all the FLA batteries would be replaced with AGM which were originally used, and used after this specific run. When inventory became available.

But now they have narrowed down exactly what in the battery is the issue, and will leave ones that don't have the issue. So no AGM for all.

Not sure how in the world they are going to inspect for internal weld or cast on strap issue:
pop the top on a sealed battery?
test and assume if no problem now never will be?
put a probe thru a hole?

How much skill we talking here to decide?
And if they decide on the visit it's fine - is the recall finished, and if it dies in 1 month, too bad?

I can see why they would not want to throw away money replacing all with AGM's, and perhaps discovered only a certain run of FLA's had the issue. Ok, cheap but understandable.
But they must not know which batch if that's the case, or not logged which vehicles that batch went in to - or there would be no need for inspection.

Ford, just replace the dam battery.................................................................!! Going in next week and I will not be happy if my battery is not replaced after the "inspection"!!!

If it’s the original battery, it will be replaced. If it already has the updated (Ford replacement ) battery, that’s the only way it would not be replaced. Also, if it’s the original has a NON FORD Battery, it will be replaced also.

Interesting, your AGM battery was made in Germany. A previous poster's replacement battery was made in China.

Yes I was surprised by seeing the made in Germany tag on the battery as I was expecting to have a Chinese made battery. In a year or so I load test the battery and see how it is.

Tech just did this recall and the rear camera in my driveway. I got a new AGM battery out of it. My old one was not AGM. Assuming my computers don't go haywire next time I drive it, I'm smiling.

I asked how many ecoboost batteries he's replaced. He said he's done 10 recalls so far, and 9 failed testing and were replaced.

PS: The backup camera display is much sharper now. But I won't claim that's due to the recall. He may have just adjusted some settings I didn't know about. Dunno.

That seems to be the ticket. After a full day of driving yesterday and today I had zero issues related to the charging system or the back up camera I had done a while back. It could be imaginary of me but it seems to be cranking faster and starting easier since the new battery was installed.
