2022 Ford Maverick XLT ECO - I just took my Maverick “The Never” to dealer for warranty service because the other day I was driving to take the trash and while turning into the Trash Site, my Mav just suddenly stopped in the middle of the road and wouldn’t move no matter how much I pressed the accelerator. The only way I did move the vehicle was to turn off my Auto Stop (I usually kept it on all the time) and place the selector in reverse – the vehicle was able to back up and then I could go forward and I was able to get it home. I took a change and drove it to the dealer for service.
The dealer received two codes during the service “B9” & B11” which led to the below Ford Recall on 2022-2023 Mavericks:
“The Ford Maverick battery recall code "24S24" refers to a recall affecting certain 2022-2023 Maverick trucks, where the vehicle's control modules may not accurately detect a sudden drop in the 12-volt battery charge, potentially leading to stalling or inability to restart after an auto start-stop function, accompanied by loss of electrical accessories like hazard lights; essentially, the vehicle might not recognize a low battery situation properly”
To get the The Never back on the road, the dealer replaced the default battery under warranty with a new battery and I have no issues to-date. I will still take the vehicle back in the dealer when the solution to this recall is released, but please be aware that this is a dangerous recall, because the vehicle can stop any where at any time!
