Sure. I guess you realize that when you go to purchase any used truck post 1990 or current truck there are plug and play harness solutions.

Maybe I been lucky but I think the last truck I bought that didn’t include this was B series in 1992

would like to know the exact criteria they use to determine the tow rate. Seems it's pulled out of a hat. Based on what is added on the 4k, the non-tow seems low. Engine and tranny and weight are the same on non-hybrid model non AWD versions

A RAV4 tows 3.5k but it's based on engine choice. Engine choice gets you the same rating on non-tow Mav's. I predict a larger engine in MY23 and 1k added to both Tow and Non Tow.

Wrong

Agree with the poster on AWD with FX4 is 2k and so is EB FWD. Makes no sense.

Should be 3 tow ratings at least based on current models. 2k-3k and 4k

Should be, should be, should be.

It is what it is.

You like it for what you will do with it or you buy something else.

really just that simple.

Yea. You are correct. No larger engine. Was trying to wrap my head around how they arrived at ratings for AWD FWD all things being equal. Marketing makes the most sense.

It's enough for my needs, which include pulling a small sailboat.

The thing is, the Maverick can't have EVERYTHING that EVERYONE wants, and still remain inexpensive. For those who need it, upgrading to 4K towing is a decent deal. For those of us who don't need it, we don't want to pay for it. Everyone's happy?
What boat are you towing? I'm looking for a small sailboat that I can tow with my hybrid, one day...

So a Kia Soul, with a 2.0l 4cyl and 235mm wide tires is worse at towing than a Ford Maverick with a 2.0l 4cyl and 225mm wide tires how?
The Kia weighs probably 1000lbs less than the Maverick, is narrower, has a shorter wheelbase, and would likely be less stable while towing. And even though the tow ratings are the same, I'd venture that Kia put minimal effort into ensuring that the Soul is set up to really tow.

If I needed a sledgehammer for a specific project, like busting up my sidewalk, I would purchase the one that would be the most efficient and effective. I wouldn't buy the little guy to do the big guy projects nor the big guy to do little guy projects.

I think the Maverick has been pretty well thought out to fit the niche it was designed to fulfill. You just can't make the Maverick something it isn't!

When in our lifetime have we seen a truck (or any vehicle) sellout with next to no advertising, commercials or promotions. The Maverick basically sold itself. I'm glad I stumbled on it.

Sure, everything is perfect. No need to question anything. Its a budget truck. Check the box. lol.

The tow ratings do not make sense when you factor in AWD FWD direct comparisons and considering the SC doesn't even offer an integrated brake controller and yet rates higher or when comparing the ratings to other small crossovers/SUV’s

The inexplicable omission of a simple plug-and-play solution for a harness is also baffling.

Yes, its all likely marketing and cost savings but I suspect Ford will tweak some of these issues in MY23 or 24

I picked 4K.

doesn’t mean I can’t question the rationale and legitimacy of the tow ratings or the omission of a plug and play harness.

Under $2 to add a pigtail and on a truck or even an SUV these days it just reflects badly not to have a harness solution.

Sure. they may not up the 4K due to Ranger but guessing the 2k will be updated on AWD/no 4K and there will be a pigtail solution.

Right now their rating configurations look more marketing geared and I believe they may realize subtle changes are to their benefit.
and you know it's under $2.00 how exactly? Probably more like $80.00 per from their approved vendors. Just another reason cheapasses on here get exactly what they deserve for trying to save $100 on the hitch option that also includes WELDED on hitch instead of bolted aftermarket like U-haul. The $100 hitch option IS THE harness solution and a no-brainer. The only thing reflecting badly is what you see in the mirror for coming on here bitching about non-issues like this :ROFLMAO:
