From looking at the orders it appears most people getting the 4k Tow add AWD. I need the 4k because I occasionally haul a loaded trailer which will be just below the 4k limit. Is there any advantage to adding AWD since I don't own a boat, don't live in the mountains, don't get any ice or snow, no off roading?
I am finding it hard to justify the extra 3k for AWD so am curious why so many are getting both so will assume one or more of the above conditional apply.
I hate torque steer. AWD will not do that.

I just tested the configurator, and it allowed me to build a FWD 2.0 with 4K towing. It didn't require me to add AWD: Build Your Maverick (ford.com)

As for the original question, I'd only buy AWD if I expected to need it. Otherwise, it just increase maintenance, reduces fuel efficiency, and increases weight.
But it will likely increase your resale value!

requires the 2.0, does not require AWD.

That screen shot is of the info about what the 4K pkg adds if you hit add then it shows this suprise :

Ford Maverick 4k Tow plus AWD 1721063234709-md

I'd say that the combined upgrades are worth it. From my experience when driving without the trailer under normal road conditions, the AWD really doesn't kick in. and the gas mileage isn't all that bad. I'm getting 34.5 MPG over a 2000 mile average with the 4K. It also feels way safer and stronger than my FWD 2017 2.0L Escape.

I don't know what "configurator" you're using but it does require it. Maybe you are building a Lariat and the Lariat includes AWD so you didn't notice that it was added.

4K package is not available at any level with FWD.

I got it because one never knows when it would be needed and not having it could end up being an issue and potentially more expensive to add later.

A pretty old thread.
The follow up story is Ford never produced the FWD with 4k tow even though my order was submitted 6/21 as FWD/4k and when I picked up my truck Ford gave me the AWD for free. Actually it was a private offer and they deducted the cost of the AWD. :)

Cool. Didn't know this was an older thread. My Mav is scheduled for build next week and I think some things have changed from the 2024 to 2025.
