I have used Rain-X windshield washer fluid in all of my vehicles since forever. Never an issue with the level sensor.

I have been using Rain-X bug remover windshield fluid for my Maverick since I picked up my Maverick and never had a problem.

I have used Rain-X bug remover windshield fluid for over 10 yrs, never had a problem with it.

So I've used the Rain-X fluid in previous vehicles for years. Seems when I google it some folks think it will adversely affect the level sensor.

Is it safe for use with the Maverick?
I have used Rain-X orange for over 30 years. I buy by the case of 6 one gallon jugs when it is on sale. Last case was 3.99 a gallon.

Current sale at O'Reilly Auto Parts is two for $12.

It is $4.99 at Fred Meyer.

I tried a case of Rain-X green (Bug remover) in my motorhome. I will stick with Rain-X Orange for now on. (y)

Rain-x orange is all I've used for years, never had a issue. Reddit guy must of ran out of talent.
I buy the concentrate, I mix it.
Cost is about 1/3 of the ready to use gallons.
Buy a gallon of premix, use it up and mix your concentrate in that jug.
Easy peasy.

After purchasing my truck I coated it with Nexgen Ceramic. After the first rain I seen where water sheeted off the part of the windshield that had got some coating on it. So I coated all the glass. Best water repellent I've ever seen and lasts about 6 months. I coat the entire truck, paint, plastic and glass every spring and every fall.

I don't know about the Maverick, if you have rain sensitive windshield wipers, however on my 2017 Jeep Renegade Deserthawk, the owner's manual specifically indicated not to use rain X as it would interfere with the operation of the rain sensitive wipers. I had followed that recommendation when I had the car. If my, Maverick had rain sensitive wipers (which it does not) I would refrain from using Rain X; why risk a potential issue.

I've been using Rain-X orange (de-icer variety) exclusively in the last three vehicles I have owned. Toyota, Subaru, Ford. Zero issues.

There was a lawsuit settled in 2024 against Rain X for this exact problem. According to the lawsuit, the following products caused the level sensor to stop functioning.

The suit specifically names the following Rain-X products:

  • Rain-X All-Season Windshield Washer Fluid
  • Rain-X 2-in-1 Windshield Washer Fluid
  • Rain-X De-Icer Windshield Washer Fluid
  • Rain-X Bug Remover Windshield Washer Fluid
I use Rain-X Platinum , not mentioned in the suit.
