Anyone who thinks Ford is sending technicians out to these massive parking lots and driving them into diagnostic shops to do "quality checks" is at best misguided.
This is merely your opinion. My friend at Toyota just told me he has actually been on teams that go out to railyards and work on cars. They bring tools. He says it works out better logistically to keep vehicles moving out of the factory.

Article to which you refer does not include Maverick for install of chips for seats, etc
I didn't refer to an article. I remember Tim the Ford Video Guy talking about shipping trucks without sensors for heated seats and steering wheels. Maybe that wasn't for Mavericks, but it would still support a reason for shipping unfinished trucks.

Plus, it makes more sense to me that they're fixing a "recall" type issue rather than sensors. If they shipped an "unfinished" truck, they'd have known from the get go that it would be stuck in VA waiting to be finished and would have calculated the shipping date accordingly. If it's a recall issue, they may have made the decision after it was shipped to fix it.

Regardless, mine is stuck in Virginia. :(

To me it does not make sense but then again nothing Ford has done with regards to the roll out of the Maverick has made much sense so this just adds to the mystery. Lol.

If they plan on going to a mostly order company, instead of lots full of cars, Ford needs to do some serious changes. No one should have to wait over a year to get a vehicle when people that ordered 6 months after them are driving around in their trucks. I feel for everyone waiting to get there trucks and hope they get them soon.

The Toyota guy talked to his Ford corporate friend. The Ford guy said Mavericks are being held at rail yards waiting on modules to be installed. He said Ford has done quality checks in the past at rail yards, but they're not currently doing them because they want to move vehicles to dealers as fast as possible.

What is a "recall" issue? It would seem a recall would be noted on this forum. Wire Harnesses? From what I am seeing on this forum, there seems to be no difference in the length of time an EB or a Hybrid is awaiting transportation and that is a Hybrid problem. Also, no recall on wire harnesses to my knowledge. It is not reasonable to issue a recall when the part is already on back order.

It would seem to me, yes just an opinion, that if any work is being done, it would not be "Quality Checks". Also, with Ford's public relation problems, I do not believe that if they were holding up the final leg of delivery for chip installation that they would keep it a secret. When F-150s and other vehicles were sitting in Detroit and Kentucky for chip installation it was no secret. When acres of Mavericks were parked at Hermosillo it was no secret. I appreciate that OP has a good friend; sorry that I am not sold on his theory based on what one Toyota technician does or says. OP's friend says he HAS been on such teams. I wonder if they still doing it.

Sometimes the simplest explanation is true; cannot get the trucks/drivers to complete the final leg. :)

See my last post. Ford has apparently done quality checks at railyards in the past but isn't doing them now. Ford is placing holds on final delivery of some Mavericks waiting on modules.

That's Occam's Razor, right? You may be 100% right.

That's just not what my Ford Rep said, so we're all left to play the guessing game. (heavy sigh)

Mine was offloaded at the railyard in Mesquite on May 9 and at my dealership by 9am May 10. So it seems to be random.

Then again, sometimes the rumors are true. 😊 In my ROTC class at Clemson, Capt Nave said the grapevine/rumor mill is surprisingly accurate most of the time.

This was just posted this evening. It’s not a wiring harness, but it’s clearly been a known problem for a while for this to finally be released.

This recall is after the fact of the OP's statement. However, I really doubt that this recent recall will hold up Mavericks at train delivery points. Ford will not send out technician to drill three or four holes in a shield and remove a couple of vanes from the grill shutter system at a railyard. It takes only about thirty minutes to do this at the dealer when he preps the truck for pickup. Also, again only hybrids.

Captain Nave said "most of the time" rumors are true. So "sometimes" rumors are not true!! I would debate the "most of the time" quote but let's not quibble with Captain Nave!!

Yeah, it would make much more sense to handle that recall after arrival at the dealer.

Today a Toyota employee told me when their vehicles are held up at rail yards before final delivery to dealers, it means they're doing "quality checks." Anyone know if Ford does the same thing?

Within one day of arriving at the rail yard in my local area, I received an email from Ford pushing back the delivery window by 11 days. It makes more sense that they would be checking things as opposed to just sitting there waiting for transportation.
My truck didn’t do that. My truck only took about 9 days to get to the final waiting spot which is where it is now. But it’s not a train yard. I’ve heard there’s been delays in shipping which is what that sounds like

See post #19. Likely not a general quality check but could be waiting on a module.
