Maybe they would allow the dealer to pick it up. BUT I see no way for customer,.

Its called Dealer Prep on all new cars unless that has changed since I worked at chevy dealer. I doubt it,. We had to install license plate bracket on front , remove plastic on seats car had to be washed, test drove, filled with gas,. All fluid levels checked. Not my job but when slow in shop I did a few myself. This has to suck waiting while it just sits,. Plus a few people had there cat converters stolen at railyards.
Let me clarify what I said about picking up vehicles at the railyard.

They have to take them directly to the Dealer for Dealer Prep/PDI.

Dealer CAN drive the Maverick from the rail yard. Might ask for money to cover time of two employees. I would have already had this done for a customer waiting this long.
I got to drive home my new 2003 Mach 1 from the railyard!
I asked Ford it this could be done and they said no.

Of course they did. They won't tell ANY customer this can be done.
Again, this is between the Dealer and the rail yard.
Customer can call the rail yard...and get the same answer Ford gave.
These companies do NOT deal directly with a retail customer.

They don't deal with dealers either. Ford nor any dealer has authority to pick it up in the railyard. It is a liability issue that only licensed transport companies can get it. I worked with a Jeep VP a few years ago that said the same thing. They could ask the transport company to prioritize a pickup but the companies will not always do it.
LM dealership owner had his personal order sit at the railyard 9 months. A manager had his there 5 months.

Sounds good.
Except I have personally went with a driver to the rail yard to bring back a customers retail order that wanted it as soon as possible. Probably 5 times over several years. I WAS a Dealer employee (sales) at that time.
As I noted above, this is not FORD intervening. They don't care. This is between the rail yard and the dealer. They get the money for delivery, and don't have to actually do the delivery. So they come out ahead. But in the big picture they do NOT want dealers showing up often driving vehicles back to the dealer. Too much distraction.

That is an amazing wait.

I have come to regard the Maverick purchasing process as a character reinvention exercise. A change from an "instant" gratification mentality.

Tranquility now, tranquility now.....

My Lariat arrived at the rail yard over a month ago. (The location is approximately 40 miles from my dealer). I have tried to get some answers from the dealer and Ford as to why there is such a delay in having the truck shipped to my dealer. No one seems to know what the holdup is, except telling me there is a shortage of drivers. I have offered to go pick it up myself, but that was it no surprise to me when my offer was declined. So close, but sooo far away! 🤬
How do you track the vehicle online with the railcar number do you know?
