Hey guys,

I will eventually own a hot pepper red XLT hybrid probably sometime in 2023 since you can't get a hybrid until then regardless. I have never own a truck before, so I have some questions if you guys don't mind answering.

1. What options are actually worth the price? (as in not being over charge)?
- What options would you recommend that you can't get after-market part for (this is also my first time actually ordering anything other than the base model)?

2. I know I will own the hybrid so it won't be able to lift, but I am curious how lifting actually work? Does lifting a truck void it warrantly? Do people wait until their warrantly expire and then lift, or do people lift it right away? Same goes with wheels as well (I want the black rims but it isn't available on the hybrid). Does it affect the warrantly? What modification can you do to your truck without it voiding any warrantly?

3. What exterior and/or interior do you plan to do to your truck?

4. For those that live in cold freezing temperature, is there anything I need to do to my truck? Can I repaint the factory spray on bed liner to match the color of my truck? And why doesn't ford offer color spray on bed liner? Would having the moonroof option make the top of the truck weaker? (Hail damage)
- Is Blizzak snow tire the best?

Thanks

I’ll jump in on #4 since I live in a cold climate part of eastern Canada.

XLT package offers heated wipers which is nice in the cold snow and ice. I believe you have to go up to Lariat or Lariat + Lux to get heated seats and I’m not sure if heated wheel is an option.

One thing that sucks in the cold with snow is not having a tonneau cover. Shoveling the driveway AND your truck bed may be a bit much for most of us lol.

And if you aren’t 100% set on the hybrid, having the AWD in the snow is very beneficial - the traction control is very good. But that only comes with the 2.0 Ecoboost engine.

Hope that helps!

Haha, I am too old to be concerned about stuff like that. I used to ride a Vespa when I was a young man. Just an enthusiast of anything with 2 wheels and a motor.

I didn't mean to alienate anyone just a couple pointers on how to get the answers to the questions they are asking. Sorry if it came off as rude.

I live in the north and have Blizzaks on my Subaru, they're awesome. That thing is a tank. I'm awaiting my hybrid xlt lux, which includes all the cold weather goodies including heated steering wheel and seats. I'll get the Blizzaks again and that should serve me.

Really options are what fits your fancy. It is so hard to answer this because what I want isn’t what the next person wants. I’m getting spray in bed liner (aftermarket), mud flaps (Rokblokz), upgraded led tail lights, bug deflector, rain/wind guards, and more. I got an XLT for cruise control being stock, locking keypad 🔢, tailgate lock, etc. Heating steering wheels are awesome but no need in Arizona.

2. I know I will own the hybrid so it won't be able to lift, but I am curious how lifting actually work? Does lifting a truck void it warrantly? lifts generally void suspension warranty for good reason. You wouldn’t void the engine or hybrid warranty. You can lift a hybrid but expect far worse fuel economy. Wheels should be available on the hybrid same as the Ecoboost (someone help me here?).

3. What exterior and/or interior do you plan to do to your truck?

huh? Mods? Accessories and bed liner mentioned in 1. I also have “Maverick” stickers to go in the tailgate.

4. For those that live in cold freezing temperature, is there anything I need to do to my truck? Can I repaint the factory spray on bed liner to match the color of my truck? I live in Arizona now but come from Nebraska.
Clean out the wheel wells really good to get the salt/snow out of them often.

Just get a spray in bed liner after market with matching color. Don’t pay Ford and than pay more after market. Ford doesn’t offer color match because that would cost time and money. This is a value vehicle with limited options to keep costs down.

Moonroof could break in hail damage. This doesn’t mean the roof is weaker. The windhsield will likely also break if the moonroof does from hail. Regardless you will get an insurance claim from a storm that bad. Not sure your concern. Some people hate moonroofs because they can leak. I’ve had minimal experience with them and don’t see it worth $1k but you might enjoy it.

Bridgestone Blizzaks or Nokian Hakkapeliittas are the way to go.

1. To me, the higher you go up the trim levels, the less value there is. But you need to think about what features you like and would miss in your current vehicle, and order accordingly.
2. No idea if lifting the truck would void any part of the warranty. Typically modifications would only void the warranty for the part of the vehicle you modified. Switching the wheels shouldn't void the warranty. Seems to me that part of the appeal of the hybrid is the gas mileage. Lifting the truck would lower the mileage.
3. Your preference. A poll of people on here who have ordered the truck revealed that Area 51 was the #1 color. No idea if that is still true.
4. I have never heard of a spray in bed liner option other than black. Perhaps the aftermarket offers that. Ford only offers black, and only in certain trims. Moonroof does nothing bad to the roof. If you live in freezing cold areas, you may want to make sure you get the packages that offer heated seats and remote start. So XLT with Luxury Package or Lariat with Luxury Package.

1. I think once you crest $30k the value proposition falls quickly. But if you order from the right dealer, you can get a Lariat Lux hybrid and come in under $30k before tax/fees. My build, which includes a paint upcharge like HPR will, is $29,300 from Chapman in PA. The Maverick is the first car I'm buying in a while that isn't a European luxury car, so I wanted all the features.

2. A dealer lift should be warrantied by the dealer and not void anything else, but it would void the absolute hell out of the hybrid MPG.

3. My build is Cyber Orange. No mods are planned.

4. I think a body-matched spray in bedliner would look strange, but that's personal preference. As someone noted, a moonroof is susceptible to hail damage but does not - in modern cars - weaken the structure. At $1000 it seems like a steep option, though. For me, I like a panoramic roof. Since the Maverick doesn't offer it, I simply went without the sunroof altogether.

Note that heated seats/wheel are only available in the luxury packages - XLT or Lariat. The standard XLTs and Lariats are not equipped with them.

My last vehicle was around $20K bare bone base model with no option. It was an A to B vehicle that I didn't really enjoy (great MPG though). I was going to lease a Mustang until I got layoff :(.

It had similar dark interior to the Maverick XL and so I'm looking to upgrade. Only the XLT interior is bright, orange, and lively, hence why I'm going with hot pepper red because it has some orange to it. Otherwise, would have went with Cyber Orange instead. I feel like the luxury package is not a creature comfort, but a must for extremely cold environment.

The reason I want a body color bedliner is because the hot pepper red paint is so nice and it a shame it would get cover up. Paying for the paint, but you are going to lose out on a decent chunk of it with the bed liner. Red also makes me feel warm as well as I plan on spending a lot of time on the bed.

My build will most likely be HPR XLT with Lux package and co-pilot 360. I do love the front signature lighting, tail lights, adaptive cruise control, and other features on the Lariat, especially adaptive cruise control.

How bad are we talking about with a lifted hybrid fuel economy? 7 less per city and hwy? So instead of 42 and 33, you get 35 and 26 instead? I'm just guessing, or is it worst?

Unfortunately, the luxury package come with spray on bed-liner by default.

Its hard to tell the drop off in fuel economy. The lift will probably hamper the highway driving far worse than city/low speed driving. Maybe 39 city and 28 highway for a 2 inch lift. It will be interesting to see what people get.

Get some quotes for color match add on. Maybe line x or rhino liners can do it for a fair price.
