When I negotiated the terms on the purchase of my 2024 Maverick from AutoNation Katy, Texas, (March , 2024) the original sales sheet said that I had to buy the paint protection and other associated ripoffs. I told the salesman, " no deal with that stuff", and he said "OK, though all the cars come that way." My final check out paperwork did not charge me for it, nor did it say it was done. So I'm not sure if they applied it to my truck and they just didn't charge me, or I really do not have it. At any rate, I got some scratches from falling tree branches during Beryl. Foolishly, I decided to repaint that rear quarter panel. The guy who did the paint work has done a number of cars for me in the past, including some expensive exotics. He's a good painter and he's never messed up. He even said the paint job looks terrible and that it had to do with the amount of oils or something that he could not seem to get out of the factory rear quarter panel. He did strip it down initially, as far as I know and used good quality paint and primer I believe. Is there something with the new paint that made this more difficult or did I get some protection that's messing this up? Any thoughts going forward,so that we get a nice matching result, as I have in the past with his work? Thanks, Steve.
