I have had my Maverick for about a week now and I just encountered a weird problem with the stereo using CarPlay.

if I connect my phone via Bluetooth I can call people without incident. I can hear them and they can hear me.

when I connect my phone via a usb cable the stereo connects to CarPlay but shows that my phone has been disconnected. I can play music, use navigation, talk to Siri and get my texts but when I try to call someone I cannot hear them through the speakers. I have to tap the speaker phone on the phone and talk to them that way.

I once had it do that then not play any music once I got off the phone. I had to remove the phone from CarPlay and re-add. That fixed the music but not the “phone” function.

is this a common issue? Is there a work around? I thought about resetting the stereo to factory default but I was hoping there was a fix.

thanks in advance.

I have the same issue with my maverick since 2022. Never figured it out. It only happens with the first call then the following calls work fine. Dealer could not figure it out either they just blame the phone or the cable.

Sorry, I’m not sure what the specific problem is with your setup, but the “phone has been disconnected” message is normal. Once CarPlay has a wired connection, it relinquishes the Bluetooth because it doesn’t need it anymore.

Your issue may be a setting somewhere, but I didn’t see anything off hand looking at my unconnected phone just now. Good luck.

CarPlay is really the only problem I've had with my Maverick. Too many issues to list. I just have learned to live with it.

I have found that you need to let CarPlay connect wireless first. I have an Edge and a Mav. In both cars if you plug in first, it won’t get to CarPlay.
So let it connect to car, then plug it in

Yep.....this. On my 24 I have to plug it in...then uplug it for it to connect. My 2022 F250 never acts like the Mav has since new. Always works in the 250...sporadic in the Mav.
