They have to know about the issue at this point.

it’s a serious safety concern. Someone is going to be really hurt, or worse.

I’m not taking mine on the freeway for a while. At least until I’m confident (as much as you can be) that it won’t repeat. I’m lucky that my commute is 6 minutes and don’t have to.

Hello,

I am new to this forum thing and this thread caught my attention so I created an account.

On Sunday Morning I was driving on the freeway and got what everybody else is getting,
Check engine light
Power train light (wrench)/reduced power
Brake light
pre-collision light/pre-collision unavailable
Hill assist message
Will engage in gear selected at low speed.
Pulled over, shut it off, turned it back on, put in drive and it started accelerating on its own but only up to about 20mph, stopped and shut it off again. Turned back on and all the messages and light disappeared except check engine light remained on. Drove home and parked it. Monday after work, got in it all light were gone, talked with dealer and they said bring it in saw a bunch of codes. Drove it there and didn't have any issues. I am scared to take on the highway to work which I do everyday. It did have the recent software update regarding the emissions control system and something about brake lights. . That was done around 36650 miles and this new issue came up around 36880 miles.

Dealer will not get to it for another couple of days. Will see what happens.

Hi Brandon! I can look into your Maverick's concern on my end. To get started, could you please send a private message over with the name/location of your local Ford dealer and your Maverick's VIN?

Did you ever get this resolved. This has happened to me twice in the past week. It sat at the dealer for 2 days and they said they couldn't reproduce the issue. Cleared the codes, and said bring it in next time.

I just brought it in yesterday so no. They won't get to it until tomorrow or Thursday.

Just had this exact thing happen on my 23 Hybrid XLT today. 15152 miles, had recalls 23E07, 23E09, and 23C41 completed on 9 Feb. The limp mode thing that it's doing now, combined with no response to throttle input (just accelerates when put into drive) is INSANELY dangerous. I had no idea what was going on after the fault occurred and as I was sitting in a 30 that dropped to 20, riding my brakes non-stop is not a good thing.

Just an update after I took mine to the dealer. They said they could see the codes in the vehicles history. Couldn't replicate the issue. They cleared the codes and said "bring it in with the warning lights on when it happens again".

We have a second vehicle so the maverick is currently sitting in my driveway doing nothing until there is some update about this.

Thats pretty much same with me. Mine is sitting at the dealer waiting to hear from ford engineers on it. Its been 3 weeks now and no fix. I believe its recall 23E09 that is the cause. Im speculating. You would think they would try reverting it back to the old program before the recall just to see if it fixes it.

Ok well, here's an update for mine. As the faults popped right when I was leaving work, I limped it back into the parking lot and tossed my phone's Bluetooth code reader on it. SOBDMC had two faults on it that stood out, here's the log from that:

At that point, turned everything off, had my wife swing by to pick me up and went home to get my laptop and USB OBD reader. What's interesting to note at this point is that when I went to get a good read on the vehicle with FORScan using my laptop about 4 hours later, I was no longer getting the traction control, service, pre-collision, or any other errors from the initial occurrence. The only indication I had was the MIL being on, but otherwise all other functions that had been lost like drive mode selection, hill assist, and traction control were back. After that, reset the faults, rechecked the DTCs, SOBDMC cleared and the faults didn't come back. Took the vehicle for a quick spin around the parking lot, no issues. Ended up driving home, just over 15 miles over some questionable roads, no issues. Figured if there was a loose connection somewhere I'd get slammed back into limp mode, but everything as of right now appears to be ok. Guess I'll just wait for the next fail to come up.

Thanks for sharing that.
I don't quite understand what the invalid data is that the
ECM/PCM is getting.

About what speed were you going when it happened? Both times it happened to me I was at freeway speeds probably 60 to 70 mph.

When it popped on me I was probably doing about 20-25 accelerating to 30.

As for the fault itself, reading the codes it seems like the ECU/PCM had some kind of hiccup and either didn't output a signal or created a corrupted output and put itself into limp mode. In any case, it was enough that it caused the ABS module to freak out which would explain a lot of the errors that occurred, and the SOBDMC ended up catching the whole thing as a watchdog.

This is all pure speculation at this point though, but given how interconnected the data from the modules are, it would make sense and also explain why clearing the DTCs and basically forcing a system reset results in normal operation. PCM crashes, drags ABS along with it which KOs multiple safety systems and lights the dash up like a wildfire. Pull the ol' IT goto of "turn it off, turn it on again" with a couple extra steps, everything is good again.
