Had my truck 6 days before I swapped them out…. E’rybody urging me to put winter tires on them and wait til we thaw out…. Nope…. Would’ve gotten them off even faster if tirerack could do instant delivery (though I did consider just having them plasti-dipped black as those look pretty solid)

After having my Maverick for 2 months, I got used to them after 2 weeks and don't really have any plans on upgrading the rims. I figure you can only make a 20k truck look so good, so the steelies don't really make it look "bad". It kind of matches the truck, plus you never have to worry about damaging them or being stolen. If I did get the urge to upgrade the rims in the future, I would probably go with Foxtrots. Also, not that I drive offroad or anything, but the steelies protect the brakes better than any other rim. Less of a chance of having larger rocks get inside and mess things up.

I am, and always will be, a steelies guy. I just find most chromed/spoked/patterned wheels looks busy, and often guady. Its a wheel, whatever.

Whenever I get some time and really doesnt have anything better to do I'm going to remove the Ford hubs that come on the XL steelies though.

If I could get 18" steel wheels, I'd mount snow tires on them and save the 18" aluminum for late spring to late fall...

I still like the steelies.

The first Mav i saw was a cactus XL. It looked awesome to me, so I ordered one with a Hybrid power train. Then, I spied a white XL at another dealer. I called my dealer and swiched to white, and made it an XLT. First cold day, I upped to luxury package.

I like the steelies so much, I contacted Ford customer service to see if they would give me a credit on the painted aluminum and give me steelies. "NO SUBSTITUTION! " It"s like a freakin' Chinese Restaurant1

I saw an Iconic Silver XL and thought the silver steelies looked good.
I do not like the look of black or dark wheels on any color vehicle.

I have always painted (prep is everything) steel wheels gloss black then added chrome beauty rings. I like that look.

There are pictures of them on this forum already. Do a search.

I'm a steelies man, myself.
I had a '95 F-150 with steel wheels and those originals were still on it when I drove it into the scrap yard last year. FWIW, $600 is what I got for it.

Had to Google them, and TBH I was expecting something a lot uglier. And what I got was something I could actually consider mounting.
Are you talking about the wheels or your blind dates?

Definitely talking about the wheels.

Most of the time people talk about expensive rims and they just look... dunno. Really mall crawler. If that makes any sense.

When I finally get my XL hybrid, I plan to keep my steelies. I may experiment with different color choices ( via Plastidip) to see how the color will pair with Area 51. I’m thinking maybe a graphite, bronze, or even an off white steel wheel might compliment the truck. Or I’ll keep it the sparkling silver and maybe spray 2K clear coat to make that pop.
