I tried to love the look of the steelies on my carbonized gray XL, but it never grew on me. They always just read "basic" when I looked at my truck, even after swapping the awful passenger car tires for chunkier AT tires. When I found a set of Bronco Sport take offs for a reasonable price, I jumped on them. I'm much happier with the look of my truck. I hold no illusions, this is all about the appearance to me. I don't expect this AWD truck will see much more than an occasional dirt road under my ownership!

That being said, I think black steelies look pretty great on Mavericks with lighter paint: area 51, iconic silver, cactus gray, oxford white, velocity blue.

Had to Google them, and TBH I was expecting something a lot uglier. And what I got was something I could actually consider mounting.

I purchased an XL that a customer ordered, and canceled. At first, I was thinking of replacing the steelies, but soon found out how expensive wheels are. I had others recommend painting them black. I've had other recommend buying wheel covers. Well...I decided to do both.

I purchased wheel covers off of Amazon for $50, and will be buying Rust-Oleum 2X Primer/Paint today in black. I watched videos on how to paint the steel wheels and will attempt to do that this week.

I actually ordered an XLT with the lux pkg and CP360 on 15 October, but it's looking more and more like my order may not even arrive before August/September, or may even be rolled into the 2023 M.Y.

Here's a ling to the wheel covers:

As a young lad my cars had black wheels and bottle cap hub caps.
This was because I could not afford Crager SS wheels.:)

If they are powder coated black, yes! If not, no.

I’ve read on here in a few different posts the stock Continentals are not impressing people so definitely going to get some higher quality tires. I like the black steelies I’ve seen on here, too.

Black steelies or powder coated black steelies look awesome. Crazy how much a difference a color swap makes. Standard steelies, nahh.. I'd have those painted ASAP or swapped out with something else on basically every color option of the Maverick.

Steel wheels are fine if you can only afford those, but I wouldn't desire them and certainly wouldn't spend more to get them.

If I can confirm a 16" steel that will fit without issue I would like to switch form the FX4 AT alloys to a 16" steel and maybe add moon discs to it. There is such a better selection of offroad tires in the 16" size. I dont want all terrains. Need to have mud terrains to make my Maverick what I want.
