“Conventional spare” spare means full size tire? Or does it just mean a doughnut instead of the tire pump?

I thought all EB’s get the transmission cooler and the 4K did not add anything.

You’re saying the EB 4K gets a bigger transmission cooler than the 2K or maybe the 2K gets no transmission cooler. Model year differences also?

Apologies to OP for continuing to go off topic. EB folks can be obnoxious haha.
They all have transmission coolers.

Looking at online parts ordering, it appears that 2025+ EB 4K tow package may have dropped the auxiliary cooler setup, but it isn't clear. IMO, this would be a major downgrade for the 2025+ 4k tow EB Maverick. Parts ordering shows that in 2025, the aux. cooler is only found on the Tremor.(?) I'm not 100% certain on this. It would be great if a 2025+ EB 4K tow owner would check for the existence of the aux. cooler hoses, easily seen behind the radiator.

EDIT: I had forgotten about this prior thread where it was determined that the 2025+ 4K tow does not have the air-to-fluid cooler so disregard the below as it does not apply to 2025+.

For MY2022-2024 only, so disregard:

Both standard EB (2K) and 4K tow EB get a water to oil (trans fluid) heat exchanger. The purpose of this is to warm up the transmission quicker when cold and keep the transmission closer to water temperature (~185 degrees) when hot.

In addition to the exchanger, only the 4K tow EB and Tremor get an auxiliary air to oil cooler in front of the radiator. This setup typically keeps maximum transmission temps about 10-15 degrees cooler than the standard EB setup. IMO, this is the most important of the upgraded components the 4K tow package offers to the EB Maverick.

In normal, everyday operation a temperature of 200-210 is typical for a standard EB 8F35. In a 4K tow EB Maverick, it is rare to see temperatures higher than 195 degrees. With my bed loaded with gear on steep Rocky Mountain passes, I've never seen a transmission temp higher than 206 degrees in my 4K tow EB.

#1 below is the auxiliary cooler that is only found on 4K tow Ecoboost Mavericks. This has a thermostat that opens for operation at 194 degrees.

#4 below is the heat exchanger.

O.P. said "hybrid" and $32,000 so no Tremor 😝 - we're in XL territory.

@RR - All the way already mentioned the added value of the 4K Tow Package, if that can be fit into the budget it does add value later but it bumps the price up as it requires additional options (Co-Pilot 360) on the XL.

Regardless of towing capacity a hybrid XL with AWD is still a great value, my only quibble with the XL is that it has manually adjustable side mirrors.

I hope @Graycenphil can join the club soon!
My MY25 XL Hybrid AWD with 4K towing came with power mirrors as part of the Co-Pilot 360 1.0 package. The package also included lane keeping, which I did not expect. Big upgrade from my previous MY24 XL Hybrid.

They do not offer a full-size spare. The "conventional" spare is larger than a donut (wider wheel), but not as big as the four wheels/tires that come with the vehicle. Also, its diameter apparently doesn't match any of the wheel/tire combos Ford offers. It is for emergency use only.

Yes, this is an important distinction, as 2022-2024 order sheets stated "full-size", when they were actually "conventional" (not a "donut"). I believe the wording was updated on the 2025+ order sheets.

A spare dated 1990 ?
That’s not a Maypop that’s a Will pop,
In the first few miles.

By the time you get it up to temperature those rusted out steel belts will disintegrate and that dry rubber will fall apart.

Or it will hold together til you get up to interstate speeds then put you in a ditch,
Ya think ?
:’P
Some people take crazy risks. My 91 had the original tires when I bought it....in 2018. They had been towing a 6 ton travel trailer on 20+ year old tires, dry rot and all.

I still have the original spare still unused under my 1990 Ranger.

I had that Ranger XLT with the same colors on the outside. It had the bucket seats and console and the 2.9 automatic until 2019 when I bought a F150 Lariat. It was a great truck with only a little rear fender rust. The only exterior change I made was to put an Explorer grill on it. I also had a base 90 SuperCab with the same engine but with the manual transmission and no air. When I moved to the city and couldn't park the F150 in my driveway anymore (too big), I bought a 2008 Ranger while I waited for my first Maverick to arrive. Even the cap looks the same on the XLT. Ford really took a lot of steel out of the cab when they did the body on the 2008. The 90 was so much stiffer.
