One of the fun things with the Maverick is the “stuff” you can do to for very little money. Some things like bed liner or bed cover cost a bit more but there are some cheaper options with the topper. Soft close gate, adding side storage in the bed (XL still only have one?), bed lighting…. Etc. search around the MTC and ask questions. :like:

I do want the optional regular spare tire though. It mounts underneath, like on many other pickups? Tires are pretty good these days, but I don’t like the fix-a-flat and the air pump.
Yes, it mounts under the bed (and you can't access it if the tailgate is down, apparently). The "conventional" (used to be called full size, but it isn't really full size) spare is part of the 4K towing package.

A spare dated 1990 ?
That’s not a Maypop that’s a Will pop,
In the first few miles.

By the time you get it up to temperature those rusted out steel belts will disintegrate and that dry rubber will fall apart.

Or it will hold together til you get up to interstate speeds then put you in a ditch,
Ya think ?
:’P
I think the bolt holding it up is rusted shut. The sidewall has a dent from the tire rack holding it up. I will take a picture tomorrow.

Great forum so first of all, thanks. I plan to get a Maverick before July 4 for the “employee pricing”. It will probably be a fairly basic hybrid, AWD, maybe a trailer hitch and not much else. Seems this will come in around $32,000, which sounds like a pretty good deal.

Unless there is something else I really need to get? Please tell me now, before I order it. Thanks.
For your 2026 Hybrid AWD XL or whatever trim you choose, I would highly suggest at least these three options:

Ford Co-Pilot 360 which includes:
Includes: • Auto High Beams • BLIS® with Cross-Traffic Alert • Evasive Steering Assist • Lane-Keeping System - Lane-Keeping Alert - Lane-Keeping Aid - Driver Alert • Intersection Assist • Pre-Collision Assist® with Automatic Emergency Braking - Pedestrian Detection - Forward Collision Warning - Dynamic Brake Support - Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) Oncoming • Rear View Camera • Rear Parking Sensors

2K Trailer Hitch Receiver with 4-Pin Connector

Conventional 17" Spare Tire

4K Tow Package:

EB gets a bigger fan & radiator for engine cooling (Coolant) but no additional cooling for the transmission.
Incorrect. EB 4K tow gets the higher capacity radiator, water-to-oil transmission cooler plus an auxiliary air-to-oil transmission cooler. The FX4 package has the higher capacity radiator without the auxiliary transmission cooler.

...not that any of that matters since the OP is shopping for a hybrid.

I used to desire a conventional spare, then I realized only 30 minutes of my entire life was on one of those tires. I want my correct wheel back ASAP! The compact should weigh less per hybrid thinking. At least Ford hasn’t put a can of fix-a-flat in to replace the tire as my daughter’s “loaded” Hyundai Had. It’s a preference. If I were an off-roader, I wouldn’t be dealing with the thing under the bed. I remember an MTC thread asking about a spare standard wheel and tire, but I think it didn’t fit. Side note… the conventional spare is an inexpensive option so…

Thanks for all the responses, lot of great knowledge here. Not planning to tow anything heavy, just a small utility trailer, and only very occasionally.

Do you have a crystal ball and can see into the future. You asked the forum for what you missed and could use. There are several posts add the 4k tow package either for resale or the extra equipment and cooling. Please search many ask how to increase towing years later as their lifestyle has changed boat, camper or construction needing the extra towing capabilities.

You can add me to the several posts on adding the 4k tow package. For me it's a no brainier, it's a truck, expand its capabilities. If you don't add it I hope your life or needs don't change. A few hundred more is better than thousands on a new vehicle capable to tow what may arise in the future. Other than that I hope you enjoy your new Maverick.

You obviously do or have not used a truck as a truck. Try one of those doughnuts with 1300 to 1500lbs in the bed. Or towing 4k pounds especially if it a rear tire. Another is in heavy snow it throws the dynamics off. I do agree on getting that tire back on as soon as possible but life doesn't work that way. It throws curve balls. I wouldn't own a truck without a conventional spare basically to handle the extra payload that may or may not be in the bed. It's kind of like being a boy scout and being prepared. Hopefully never needing it but if I do, I'm prepared

I thought all EB’s get the transmission cooler and the 4K did not add anything.

You’re saying the EB 4K gets a bigger transmission cooler than the 2K or maybe the 2K gets no transmission cooler. Model year differences also?

Apologies to OP for continuing to go off topic. EB folks can be obnoxious haha.

Hear Hear! I did not realize CoPilot 360 was an option and not standard on the XL Hybrid AWD. I agree with you that that option is a must have. Very useful!

You are correct! I do not used the Maverick as a truck. It’s great that this one vehicle can be a hauler, off-roader, commuter, sports truck, cruiser, work truck, etc.
My particular use may justify AAA to deal with a flat :teehee:

Is a full size spare a different option? I thought it was tire pump/patch kit standard, spare tire optional.

It comes with 4K towing. I don't know if it's also a standalone option. Look at the option list.

It depends on what year. You are correct for a 2026. The issue now is more severe for many flats especially if sidewall may not be able to use the mobility kit? I did a search depending on the year a doughnut so I inserted 2026.

Tire Inflator and Sealant Kit: This is now the default equipment. It comes standard on all Hybrid AWD models, as well as all trims featuring the 2.0L EcoBoost turbocharged engine (including the XL, XLT, Lobo, and Lariat).Mini Spare Tire (155/70 R17): This comes standard only on Hybrid Front-Wheel-Drive (FWD) configurations for the XL and XLT trims.Conventional 17-Inch Spare Tire (215/70 R17): This full-size style spare comes standard on the Tremor trim. It is also standard if you add the FX4 Off-Road Package or the 4K Tow Package to other trims.Upgrading to a SpareIf your preferred Maverick trim only includes the inflator kit by default, you can add a Conventional 17-inch Spare Tire as a standalone factory option (Option Code 51D) when ordering the truck. Doing so removes the tire inflator kit from your
