Phone charging VERY slow

If a cigarette lighter USB charger works properly maybe just get a wireless CarPlay adapter and call it a day. Not having to plug in is bliss once you have experienced it.

this. No way the USB port even comes close to the 12v adapter speed.

I have a battery bank that displays input and output. I’ll drain it a bit and check what the truck is outputting. My guess 15w max.

This was with the only USB A to C I had on hand so it may of been a limit, but I doubt it. The USBC to C was an Apple Cable.

I was able to test the USB-A port on the back of the arm rest with the same phone/cord as the one on the dash. It seems to work fine so I’m thinking I have a problem with the usb ports on the dash.

yep. I think this is enough for any competent Ford dealership service dept to do their own brief investigation and then warranty replace the lower console usb port module.

Yeah unfortunately I'm going to have to bring it to the dealership. Ugh. Sucks because chances are they will want to keep it for a few days.

Just out of curiosity, I checked my charging rate when connected with the USB-C port. Not sure about wattage, but it was over 2.0 amps. It fluctuated somewhat. Overall, more than acceptable.

The front USB ports in my 2023 Maverick completely stopped working. When they were working they were charging at normal speed rates. It sucks since I have no carplay until it gets fixed. Hopefully, parts if needed will be available.

I'm dropping off my Maverick at the dealership in the morning for it's first oil change and I'm gonna hit them with a list of issues...

Phone charging VERY slow (I got 3% on a 90 minute drive today)
Rattle from passenger side
Rattle in passenger door
Rear sliding window makes a noise that sounds like a loose washer or something (I can't locate it)
My A/C will randomly start blowing HARD if I drive for like 20-30 minutes on the lowest setting and NOT on auto.

So we'll see what happens lol

Just dropped it off... the service advisor told me he believes the front USB are designed to only trickle charge. Does anyone know if that is true or have documentation on what kind of output those are supposed to put out? I 100% don't believe them.

They also told me my A/C randomly blowing hard is normal and not cause for concern... which I also don't believe. It's on the lowest setting, circulating air and NOT on auto.

That SA is full of it.
My Pixel 4a quickly charges on the Maverick's USB C port. Not so fast on the USB A port, although it may be due to a different cable being used.

Sounds like all the iPhones are charging more slowly compared to the android phones. Does anyone have both types of phone and can do a comparison?

No problems using a USB-C to USB-C cable on my Fold 5. Will test the iPhone 15 next time the wife is in the truck.

I have an iPhone 12, using the UsbC to lightning cable. It will bring my phone from a ~25% charge to 95% during a 45 minute drive, while using Apple carplay, maps and music.

Using standard aftermarket USB lightning cable, my XR charges about 1% a minute, while using iTunes through Apple Car Play.
