Wondering if anyone else has seen this warning. My hybrid's pedestrian sounder stopped working, annoying but still under warranty so not a huge deal. Took the truck in and the tech said the speaker is fine, but the module that runs the speaker is busted and is on backorder. It's been over a month now, no movement.

My issue in the meantime is that the instrument panel warns me of this fault literally every time I get in the car. It makes a warning sound and gives me a prompt I need to erase by hitting the "OK" button on the steering wheel. It started just doing it at the beginning of every trip, maybe 90 seconds after I start moving, but now it's progressed to warning me at all times. Sitting at a stoplight the warning will go off 3-5 times at least. Moving at speed, stopped, slow, in reverse, it doesn't matter...car is constantly blinking and beeping at me. It's infuriating.

To make matters worse, the warning won't even give the prompt on the instrument screen enough time for me to OK it away. It'll pop up for half a second and dismiss itself, then a few seconds later do it again.

I called the dealer and they said no movement on the part as of yet--is there a way to get this warning under control? Can I just unplug the sounder (since it's not working anyway) until the part comes in and they can fix it properly? There's not a lot of info on the web...has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe you can turn the alarm off via forscan

Unplugging it may be worse, if that's possible.
I'd look in Forscan or ask the dealer for suggestions...they owe it to you for the inconvenience.

The likelihood that a dealer can intentionally disable a warning system - even when they have a good reason - seems unlikely. There would be liability risk if you were ever in an accident and it came out that they disabled something that might have affected the accident.

Does anyone know where the module is located inside the vehicle?
PACM (Pedestrian Alert Control Module) is near the 12V battery under the rear seat

realistically there is nothing you should or could do. If this truck is under warranty and you mess with anything to try and disable the warning you are on your own.
The truck is doing what it's supposed to do, warn you there is a problem.
Too bad Ford doesn't have parts for our trucks, that sucks but it is what it is.

That just bypasses the speaker. If the fault is with the module causing an error it won't do anything to affect that.

Is it possible that the speaker failed, causing the module fault? Like the same as if you were to unplug the speaker?

Nah the tech said he tested the speaker and it was working fine, so it has to be the module that controls it.

Oddly enough it worked yesterday at one point when I was driving around, but then this morning when I went to drop the kid off at daycare it was broken again. Either way the "warn me every 30 seconds" seems to have stopped, so I can live with it for now. Just wish I knew how long this backordered part was going to take to get here.

I have just started getting this error as well. I may not be saved by warranty, as I relocated the speaker slightly for my Demco baseplate install. If it is the under-the-backseat module, however, maybe I will have a warranty repair. For what it is worth, I am also hearing a faint, rhythmic tick from the speaker (just in front of and to the inside of the driver's front tire) when the truck is "alive."
