I just got my forscan done. And still same thing. No downshift. Hmmm weird. Now I was tinkering with deleting stuff off my explorer dash I don't need like navigation in the menu that doesn't work and after changing a few things I'm getting a 4wd error
it could be 2 things . either something its not wire right. or the switch it self its not working . the paddle shift switch i mean. i would check those first.

about the cluster i dont know i suggest putting as built. and doble checking

I fixed my errors. Apparently my truck won't let me fix my tire size so my Speedo is right.... Kinda getting annoying. But the up shift is the only one that's working for me. Maybe the pin wasn't in snug in the steering wheel connection. I'll have to test tomorrow in daylight

you got to do both sides. once you removed be carful disconnecting the 2 air bags to clockspring connectors . use a pocket screw driver or Pick . just carefully pull clip and press on the sides with your fingers and pull up. first your going to disconnect the white connector of the horn.

1701543781094.png

once you remove the air bag you should put the wheel straight, remove clockspring connector on top and remove the 24mm bolt so you can remove steering wheel from the steering column.
1701545209042.png

1701543897384.png

Instead of going through the whole steering wheel replacement and associated wiring/hardware, can I not simply install a three position momentary joystick (rocker switch) in the center console and run my three wires to the PCM connector? Then, of course, program with Forescan???

Basically, I want to use a momentary switch in place of the paddle shifter, on a steering wheel, to send the signal for shift up and a second momentary switch to send the shift down signal. A joystick with momentary switches that are made when pushed forward or back will take the place of the paddle shifter switches. The other side of the two switches will be 'tied' together for the signal return.

If I run a wire from the joystick switch for "UP" to the PCM connector (pin 6) for shift up, to the correct connector pin and another from the joystick "DOWN" switch to the PCM connector (pin 5) then lastly, the return wire (pin 4), where do I get the "Powertrain Signal Return"?
In the connector diagram of the PCM connector it looks like pin 4 is not used, so its blank on the other side of the connector??

Just looking for where to tie in to the other side of the two switches for the return and how to complete the circuit.

I'm genuinely curious what meaningful functionality paddle shifters add in the EB Maverick? Is it for skipping gears? Faster shifting to avoid turbo lag? More control while dropping speed? All of the above?
I for one would love to be able to manually set my gear coming down the hills I live in.

The second big bonus I see to this is the ability to change the flimsy steering wheel that comes from the factory. It's made for children's hands to hold.

Signal return comes from the pcm to the steering wheel control module directly. You will need to add the wire.

Hey man, thanks so much for this info. I have a question, hoping you can help. On my steering wheel, I only have pins 1, 4, 5, 6, and 11 open. XLT Ecoboost FX4. Got any idea which I should use? Thanks.
