WOW! Your idea of a DIY installation is advanced engineering to me, especially when it comes to electronics.

Being a 68yo I was raised on points & plugs, condensers, distributor caps, lights and a radio being a vehicle's electronics, but I appreciate the effort and ingenuity of you folks enhancing a modern vehicle.

Man...am I old! 🤔

I'm genuinely curious what meaningful functionality paddle shifters add in the EB Maverick? Is it for skipping gears? Faster shifting to avoid turbo lag? More control while dropping speed? All of the above?

I want it for towing in the mountains, the sport mode knows when to shift if I want to go fast in a straight line but the PCM can struggle to understand what gear to stay in when maneuvering hills. But yes all of the above

Im a bit confused. If I drive it on normal mode and don't use the paddles will it shift by itself if I get close to redline? Cars I've driven usually have the sport mode and it will only let you use the paddles then, not on normal.

The escapes I've driven go into manual mode when you use the paddle shifters

Cornering especially. Even sport mode sometimes doesn't quite hold a gear when you're light on the throttle as you set up to exit a corner. It ends up shifting up and I'd love to keep it in gear throughout the turn.

Even in non spirited driving, I'll be able to granny shift and instantly select a gear if I need to pass or merge, and then shift up to cruise without having to change drive modes. Ive been driving in sport mode exclusively since I got the truck.

This is the first automatic vehicle I've owned and I was very accustomed to being in a specific gear while driving.

It drives normal until you used the shifters then it becomes manual.
