I've read the guide on this forum for installing the steering wheel (awesome guide btw) but I'm confused on how they work. On other cars I've owned, there was a "manual mode" button or setting on the gear selector that would allow you to use the optional manual mode, but since our little rotary phones don't have that option, how is manual mode activated when adding the paddles? Thanks for any info

It automatically goes into manual mode and back to regular shifting depending on the rpm and how often you use the paddle. If you are paddle shifting a lot they stay active. If you shift less it returns to regular automatic shifting. You cannot downshift too many gears it also limits that. So if your in 4th and try to go to 1st or 2nd it does not let you. You cannot over shift up either. If you are in 5th and try to go to 8 is doesn't allow. The paddles are really beneficial though if you get caught in the wrong gear. You sometimes will see you are in 6,7 or 8 speed driving around 40mph. Give it a couple of taps and your in the gear you should be. I sometimes downshift when slowing down just to hear that 2.0 scream at 5900 rpm....very satisfying.

With Forscan you can also activate the gear display on your dash so you know what gear you are in. When you see no gear indicator it has returned to automatic shifting.

This would be default or automatic shifting with no gear number indicator

HRG, I'm going to be completely honest with you. This install was way over my confidence level. I am so scared of anything electrical. I thought for sure fuses would blow, check engine lights will come on, things were gonna melt. @Vtec87pr1 post on adding to his covered just about 98% of everything I needed. I did have trouble with the little terminal connections (bent one putting in cuz I was very timid) but I would be more than willing to supplement his guide. Its so satisfying to have them working......and I didn't break anything in the process...which is rare.

Thanks! I'm pretty good with the electrical side of things, just need to learn Forscan & such.

Cobb has developed a way to make the “L” button behave like an “M” button.
That way the paddle shifting will not automatically revert to automatic. It will hold the gear selected

It should be available to their Protuners when they do their next update.

Probably a week or so.

Well someone send me a preview of the Cobb tune with the paddles enable it's shows them on the instrument cluster permanently but I don't know they feel weird. Compared to by old setup with the sct tunner . But when they do enable it count me in I will happy to provide everyone feedback on it.

Just for the protuners?
Why not include it in a retune of the sport tune?
