Thanks for the detailed answer! I'm guessing it won't be a problem for me as I live rural and take no "short" drives.
Don't count on it. It seems part of the problem is that this BMS prevents the battery from being charged to a higher state of charge, not to even talk abouts todays' constant connectivity. What will help you is the rural area and few demands on the automatic start/stop system.

I think it's just a switching choice you need to make upon startup each time.

My be some truth to low battery in the EB. Left doors open for a while, going in and out of other doors. When I went to start it up it barely would crank. This is a 2 year old battery. Maybe Ford cheats on battery quality. I think I'll have the battery checked at Goodyear. Think they'l tell me I need a new one. Should I believe.

I can't recall mine ever coming on when the truck has been remote started. It's very annoying.

Battery issues among FORD's leave a lot to be desired currently. I even monitor my battery and pretty much daily even without the use of the app and zero connection to it, the battery is lower than I feel comfortable with. "Safe"? Maybe, but if the lights won't come on when I open the doors there is clearly something wrong and replacing the battery has proven on both these forums, and the Escape forums (as well as the biggest ones with the issue - the F150 forums) to solve nothing. It's just a band-aid on an arterial bleed.

My Hybrid Escape was awful though. I would constantly have to charge the battery and got 3 no starts in the short year and a half I had it and FORD refused to replace the battery saying "It only needs charged".

The amount of 12V battery posts is crazy !

Unfortunately there is zero chance the fix is simple / cheap or Ford would have a TSB issued by now. I have lots of theories on this but perhaps latest is that a fix would require reprogram of the BMS which would then likely result in different emissions / mpg ratings for vehicles. That is something they likely don't want to touch.

I have posted this before, but the fact that eco's have two different batteries as replacement parts non and AGM with different CCA ratings, and hybrids one (for now), makes you wonder. Oh and don't forget the backorder on all batteries.

That should tell you something.

Hey Bill, in order for Ford to come up with a $19,995 hybrid truck, they had to cut corners wherever they could. Perfect example, NO CRUISE CONTROL. Looking around the truck, an obvious place to cut costs would be the battery. An electrical engineer friend said that I didn't have to worry about my battery, as Ford would want to buy locally, as shipping heavy batteries from China would not be cost effective. Of course, he didn't realize that the truck was built in southern Mexico, which brings in the Lake Titicaca Battery and Storm Door Company. My battery lasted 6 months, so count your blessings. My local (Maryland) dealer replaced the original battery, but I have no idea where the replacement was made. I am already geared up to get a $220 Die Hard replacement for this second battery, whenever it goes. Again, your 2-year-old may be the Maverick record!
