You're not accounting for shipping logistics/geography. If you set the algorithm to prioritize order date over shipping efficiency (i.e., FIFO) you're still going to get a lot of added costs and reduced efficiencies.It's all done with computers. They know what materials they have on hand to produce a given number of trucks. Matching those materials to all trucks to be built isn't that hard to fathom. Factor in the dates in which those trucks were ordered shouldn't be that hard to schedule. That doesn't cost more to produce or make it less efficient.
Where this gets all mucked up is the allotment issue. Which custom orders should not be subjected. So because someone orders from a large dealership they take precedence over someone ordering in their own home town. That's the part that is BS.
