It's all done with computers. They know what materials they have on hand to produce a given number of trucks. Matching those materials to all trucks to be built isn't that hard to fathom. Factor in the dates in which those trucks were ordered shouldn't be that hard to schedule. That doesn't cost more to produce or make it less efficient.

Where this gets all mucked up is the allotment issue. Which custom orders should not be subjected. So because someone orders from a large dealership they take precedence over someone ordering in their own home town. That's the part that is BS.
You're not accounting for shipping logistics/geography. If you set the algorithm to prioritize order date over shipping efficiency (i.e., FIFO) you're still going to get a lot of added costs and reduced efficiencies.

You don’t know tha
Sorry, but when someone in November had the exact same build as mine posted here and got a build date in less than a week from placing the order sort of says I do. Of course they could have been lying.

So you are telling me they are building these things by geographical location. Sorry, I don't believe that. And I'm not talking about receiving the truck, I'm talking about building the truck.

I'm saying they prioritize shipping efficiency over order date. Shipping efficiency includes geography and dealer (allocations). There's evidence that order date gets prioritized somewhere (a much higher percentage of June/July orders have been made than Sept/Oct orders), but it's probably near the bottom of the list of considerations.

Anyway, you may not have been talking about receiving the truck, but you'd better believe it's part of their algorithm. If they build your Maverick without the intention/ability to ship/sell it right away, that not only reduces what they could have sold during that time, but also increases their costs by having to store it.

I knew it was going to be a long wait when I placed my order. I anticipated a Feb/Mar delivery but to not even have a potential build date is becoming annoying.

Yeah. It sucks. Especially when you see other builds like yours getting built.

I think Ford should hand out Ford Maverick crying towels to all those pissing and moaning about order process and how long its taking.
I'm in my 7th month and some on here are waiting longer. If you cant wait, buy a Santa Cruz or pay the so called " market pricing" that this frenzy is feeding into.
Sorry to be so blunt but sometimes you just cant get what you want when you think you should get it. ESPECIALLY those in the game for just a couple months.

Did you complete and sign all the necessary paperwork at your Ford dealer?
I completed my order on 12/15/21 and received my confirmation and build date from Ford the next day.
My build date is the week of February 21, 2022.
I did do all the paperwork at the dealer and, embarrassingly, must admit that I *did* receive an order confirmation the same day, but I somehow missed the email. 🙄

However, I haven't received a build date yet, fingers crossed that I get a build date something like yours, that would be slick.

Vehicle allotments are a key factor many want to ignore but you can't. Allotments are used as major incentives and compensation for dealers to move inventory. If a small dealer doesn't sell a lot of F150s they aren't going to get a lot of Mavericks either. Choosing your dealer is the #1 most important thing you can do when buying an in-demand vehicle.

I ordered my Maverick from Douglass Ford in Clifton, TX.
Where did you order yours?

You must not have been looking at a Ram 1500 classic tradesman then.
That's correct. I have a 2014 Ram EcoDiesel and I figure if I'm going to get a new truck, I'd prefer to have the new body style, though I still find this body style quite handsome. I would be very happy with a Tradesman trim as I can put everything I want on it *except* heated steering wheel and seats, which are two things that I really want in my next truck. To get those options, I have to jump up to the Lonestar trim level, which then bumps the price up with a bunch of additional crap that I don't really want or need. I'm tired of having to pay $5-8k more for things I don't want only bc there is one or two things that I *do* want that come with some package of unrelated features. And because of that, Ram has lost a sale from a dedicated Ram customer. Frankly, I don't care if selling packages full of unrelated features is easier to manufacture or increases their margins. If a manufacturer has to charge a little more to make up for the less efficient manufacturing process, then fine, but let the customer decide if it's worth it to them. But don't make us upgrade to an 8.4" monitor with premium speakers and require a center console if I want to have a moon roof (or whatever, that's just an example). Sorry, you sent me off on a rant. 😆

I ordered mine at North Central Ford, just off I-75 N outside of Dallas.

FIFO would ensure just about everyone's maverick would be delayed, and we'd all be paying more.
While I agree strict FIFO isn't realistic, it's difficult to believe Ford's clear best option was to pull a 12/15 order for scheduling the very next day, when there were thousands of earlier orders out there.

Plan for June and be pleasantly surprised you get it in May. It would be cool if you get rolled over to MY23, though I doubt it. There are rumblings that they're close to closing out orders for ecoboosts soon too so they can finish up MY22. At least those are the words of Tim Bartz of Long MacArthur.
