Hello, like many in here, I have been doing a lot of stuff to my 2.0 Mav, and even though the amount of reliable technical data here has been quite a bit of hit and miss. I figure I'll give it a try anyway.

Not only is this is my first FORD in more than three decades, but the engine bay of my '89 LX fox body was not cluttered with vacuum hoses and quick-connect as this little truck is!

Most quick connections are easy to figure out! … and yes, I have the tools for fuel rails and filters, but his one has puzzled me. There a no tabs, you can't squeeze it, and the quick connect removal tool does not fit under it! It almost looks like a throwaway similar to the ones found in most heater hoses, where you replace the insert after breaking it. Perhaps there is a special tool to squeeze the two tabs at the same time?

Question: Has anyone removed this orange quick connect without breaking it?

I kinda-sorta have a memory of doing those clips by expanding the internal(orange) clip in the widest slot by shoving the part that sticks out as far as possible across the opening. Looking at the noted PDF, it seems the right way, as doing so would expand the diameter of the orange plastic, and move the barbs away from the fitting and allowing the connector to come free. All the picks and such may not be necessary. You do not want to be pulling HARD when you slide that part(#2 in the pic looking into the fitting) all the way, as that would make more friction between fitting barbs and the fitting on the engine. Slide without any pulling, and once expanded(slid all the way) then pull. I think.

Would advise extreme caution as generally anything orange in the engine bay is an indicator of high voltage.

If you're determined to fiddle with it, best to take the precaution of disconnecting the battery first.

I think that they were designed to be tamper-proof. I removed the one on the valve cover using a pick before seeing the above PDF, but the one on the intake tube is stubborn. I don't see a mechanic at the dealer spending 15-20 minutes fiddling with some quick connection.

The replacement Breather Tube - Ford (K2GZ-6758-H) cost $9 not worth the aggravation. Pull-on it firmly and it will give... NEXT!

What are you talking about? " high voltage " in a 12-volt system? ...going from valve cover to air intake tube? Where did you read that CNN?

Applicable precautions for any with hybrid or EV.

...we are talking about crankcase ventilation on an EcoBoost engine!
I'm struggling to remove my orange connector quick connector so I can put my intake on. How did you remove yours? I've used a pick and got it to partially release but not totally. I'm bleeding and about to give up. I remember when cars were easy to work on. :(
