I have had my Maverick a year now and I am growing more disappointed that I don't have the ability to have a locking gas door or a locking gas cap. Any options out there to prevent any unauthorized access to my gas tank?

If you search Google or the internet using whatever browser you prefer. There are options for a locking gas cap.

this isn't a lot of useful information, but there are locking cap options for ford's "capless filler" design. I know there's one available for the 150, can't imagine there wouldn't also be one available for the mav

There are some aftermarket options for locking gas doors and caps that might help. You can find locking gas caps online or at an auto parts store, and there are even kits for locking the gas door itself.

There is no reason to have a lock on the gas fill door Ford has already thought of that and has prevention in place.

"Ford’s capless full filler deters gas theft two different ways. With Easy Fuel, a spring-loaded flapper door is held closed by latches that can only be released by a standard-size fuel nozzle. This eliminates the need for a fuel tank screw cap. When the proper nozzle is inserted into the filler neck of the system, the latches release, and the nozzle pushes the spring-loaded flapper door to the open position. When the nozzle is removed, the flapper door automatically is forced closed by the spring."

Given that Ford's capless filler design makes it almost impossible to steal fuel, what is your concern?

I know the hybrid has a door release inside the cab. If I'm right I the ecoboost does not. Not sure about the last part.

You know with the right tube, which you can buy at any parts store, you can bypass that right? In any case gas thieves usually just drill a hole in the bottom of the tank rather than wasting time siphoning fuel so the OP's concern is a little misguided.

That is correct, only the hybrid has a fuel door release due to the pressurized fuel system of the Hybrid. But that irrelevant and the Hybrid does not have the remote fuel door to deter theft. Again, Ford has already considered this and the Easy Fuel System is set up to prevent theft.

That's not exactly true that you can't just stuff a tube down the filler anf siphon gas. Most people don't know that since the 1970's auto manufacturers have added anti siphoning mechanisms in the gas tube to make it near impossible to get a hose down the filler neck and into the tank. I found this out when I had to drop a gas tank on a car I owned several years ago and I tried siphoning the remaining gas out first with no luck.

Your second point however is absolutely correct, thieves aren't going to waste time trying to siphon gas out of your car, they're just going to crawl underneath and puncture the gas tank because that's the fastest way to do it. If the OP is worried about gas theft then what he really needs is a gas tank made out of a steel that impossible to puncture.

So.... Can a siphon hose be inserted through a short pipe shaped like a filler nozzle inserted into the filler neck?
