My Lariat arrived at the rail yard over a month ago. (The location is approximately 40 miles from my dealer). I have tried to get some answers from the dealer and Ford as to why there is such a delay in having the truck shipped to my dealer. No one seems to know what the holdup is, except telling me there is a shortage of drivers. I have offered to go pick it up myself, but that was it no surprise to me when my offer was declined. So close, but sooo far away! 🤬

Dealer CAN drive the Maverick from the rail yard. Might ask for money to cover time of two employees. I would have already had this done for a customer waiting this long.
I got to drive home my new 2003 Mach 1 from the railyard!

Followed my truck through its Journey. The wait at the rail yard was the longest. But not a month!

I think I was at about 3.5 weeks in the railyard as well - very frustrating. All you can do is wait unfortunately. Hope it gets moving soon!

Sad thing is there was a time in this country where someone or someones would be fired for this type of dereliction of duty. Now? A promotion is in order. Sad, truly sad. I feel for you, mate.

I talked to my dealer last week about the long wait times in rail yards. He spoke to a driver a few weeks ago about it when they received a delivery of some vehicles from Chicago, and the driver told him that surprisingly, Ford is actually doing much better in this regard than other auto companies.

So take that for what its worth...i'm sure it varies quite a bit in different parts of the country.

That might have been a thing in 2003, but everything points to Ford not allowing that any longer. At least that's what the dealers are saying...

I was fairly lucky mine sat at the railyard for only a week.

No dealer will volunteer picking up a vehicle at the railyard. But I know that dealers near the rail yards still do that on occasion. Really not a "Ford" thing but a rail/trucking/dealer matter. BTW, you do NOT get any money back for picking up there......

Mine sat at the Chicago Heights railyard for 2 weeks before it shipped out. A friend of mine ordered a new GMC Canyon about the same time I ordered my Maverick and it just came in last week after 9 months. It sat at the railyard in St. Louis for a little over 6 weeks before it shipped. He test drove it and the A/C blew hot air, the seats were terrible and no rear seat leg room (he's 5'5!). He turned it down and bought an Acadia off the lot.

That is unfortunately how it works. My truck was held up for an embargo for about a month. You cannot pick it up; you have to purchase from the dealer after it is inspected.

Maybe they would allow the dealer to pick it up. BUT I see no way for customer,.

Its called Dealer Prep on all new cars unless that has changed since I worked at chevy dealer. I doubt it,. We had to install license plate bracket on front , remove plastic on seats car had to be washed, test drove, filled with gas,. All fluid levels checked. Not my job but when slow in shop I did a few myself. This has to suck waiting while it just sits,. Plus a few people had there cat converters stolen at railyards.
